Every year, UUCiL members support community organizations working for justice, dignity, and human flourishing.

For the first half of 2026, our tithing recipient is Centro Legal de la Raza.

Through legal representation, education, and advocacy, Centro Legal helps thousands of people navigate complex systems and access the support they need.

Thank you for helping extend our collective care beyond the walls of our church.

We shared about the wrong book initially. Now updated, the UUCiL Social Justice Book Group invites you to join us for a discussion of The English Problem by Beena Kamlani.

Blending history, identity, migration, and questions of belonging, this novel follows an Indian family navigating the complexities of British colonialism and the search for home across cultures and generations. Rich with emotional depth and historical insight, the story opens meaningful conversations about empire, language, race, and resilience.

Annual Congregational Meeting
Sunday, May 31 • Following Service (~12 PM)

Curious how decisions get made at UUCiL? This is one of the ways we practice community together.

Members and friends are invited to attend our Annual Congregational Meeting as we reflect on the past year, look ahead to the future, vote on church business, approve the upcoming budget, recognize leadership, and celebrate members who help make this community what it is.

Lunch will be provided by the Board before the meeting, and participation will be available both in person and via Zoom.

Whether this is your first annual meeting or your fiftieth, we hope you’ll join us.

(Official meeting materials and voting information have been mailed to members.)

Mystery, philosophy, sheep.

Honestly, what more could a movie discussion group want?

Join UUCiL’s Movie Discussion Club as we explore The Sheep Detectives, an Agatha Christie-style mystery that blends humor, heart, and unexpected existential questions into one delightfully unusual film experience.

The movie is currently playing at Livermore 13, Regal Hacienda in Dublin, and other Bay Area theaters.

Then join us for conversation, connection, and thoughtful discussion:

Whether you come ready to analyze clues, unpack the deeper themes, or simply talk about sheep with unusually strong opinions, all are welcome.

“We didn’t come here today to cut an album.

We didn’t show up to judge or be judged. And we don’t have to be good at anything in particular to be welcome, to participate, or to have the value of our participation be fully realized and appreciated.”

Earlier this month, Rev. Amelia reflected on singing as a spiritual practice. Not performance. Not perfection. Participation.

At UUCiL, we believe community is something we create together. Through song, conversation, care, curiosity, laughter, grief, joy, and simply showing up as ourselves.

You do not have to arrive polished or certain to belong here.

Some of the most meaningful justice work begins with gathering around a table together.

Join UUCiL’s Social Justice Committee for our next Letter Writing Gathering on Sunday, May 24 at noon in the Tot Green Room.

Whether you’re writing elected representatives, submitting public comments, or speaking up on issues impacting our communities, this is a chance to use your voice alongside others who care deeply about justice, compassion, and human dignity.

With urgent local concerns like the future of the former FCI Dublin facility, collective action matters. Sometimes resistance looks like showing up, sharing a meal, and writing one thoughtful letter at a time.

Supplies provided. All are welcome.
Bring your questions, your convictions, and your courage.
