Yesterday brought a close to our 5-week journey through the book of Genesis!

As we looked at Joseph finally revealing his identity to his brothers in Genesis 45, we were reminded of a truth we all need to hear: Left to our own power, human nature pulls us toward division, control, and holding grudges—but God is relentlessly at work, bending our story back toward His grace.

If you missed Sunday or need a reminder as you start your week, hang onto these three truths:

- The Church is a Hospital: We aren't a museum for perfect saints; we’re a hospital for broken people. And the cure isn't our own effort—it's Jesus Christ, our Savior, who meets us right in the middle of our mess.

- We are Vessels, Not the Source: You don't have to carry the overwhelming pressure of trying to change someone else's heart. We aren't the waters of change—we are just the vessel holding it. God is the source, and only He can transform a heart.

- God is Bigger Than the Pit: In spite of human error, chaotic circumstances, or deep relational wounds, God takes the broken choices of our lives and weaves them into His sovereign grace.

Whatever mess, division, or tension you are carrying into this week, lay down the need to fix it in your own strength. Yield control, take a breath, and lean on the God who is actively at work in your story.

Takeaway Question for the Week: Where in your life do you need to stop trying to be the source of change and simply let God be the vessel of grace through you?

When you look back on the hardest or messiest chapters of your life, can you see moments where God was working behind the scenes?

It's easy to feel like pain, betrayal, or family chaos get the last word. But the story of Joseph reminds us that God is constantly weaving grace, healing, and redemption through the middle of our mess.

What’s one way you’ve seen God’s hand at work in a chapter you thought was broken?

If you spent Sunday morning carrying the heavy weight of comparison, performance, or feeling like you had to "earn" your place—hear this simple truth today:

God does not show favoritism. You don't have to prove your worth to Him or fight for a seat at His side. Jesus took the ultimate rejection on the cross so that you and I could be fully forgiven, unconditionally loved, and permanently welcomed into the family of God.

Step out of the hallway of comparison this week and rest in who He says you are. ❤️

Our world loves to rank people, play favorites, and hand out status to a select few. But the Gospel flips that completely on its head: God doesn't operate on favoritism, and His love leaves no one sitting on the outside.

As we look toward Genesis 37 this Sunday (Sibling Rivalry, Part III), we’re reminded that our true value isn't found in the status or "robes" society hands out, but in the unconditional love of a Father who calls each of us His beloved child.

💬 We'd love to hear from you in the comments: What helps you keep your heart anchored in His love when the world pushes you to compete or compare? 👇

On Sunday, we looked at Jacob alone in the dark at the Jabbok River. He didn’t walk away blessed because he was strong or clever—he walked away blessed because he refused to let go.

"Victory isn't beating God—it's refusing to let go of Him."

Whatever wrestling match you're facing this week, know that God stays with you in the dark, meets you in your limp, and loves you too much to let you go. Have a blessed week, church family!

What if the moments where our plans get knocked over are the exact moments God meets us? 🕯️

This Sunday, we're stepping into one of the most mysterious and raw stories in the Old Testament: Jacob wrestling with God in the dark at the Jabbok River (Genesis 32).

Jacob was out of clever tricks, out of backup plans, and terrified of facing his past. But in the middle of his night, an encounter happened that changed his life—and his name—forever.

Join us this Sunday as we talk about "Holy Wrestling" and what it means to hold onto God when life gets messy.

Maybe it’s a past decision catching up to you, a tough conversation waiting in the morning, or a struggle you just can't seem to fix on your own.

When you're at the end of your own strength... what do you do?

Drop a line in the comments or just take a moment to reflect today. You aren't the only one who has wrestled in the dark. 👇

Sometimes Scripture makes us squirm a little—and that’s okay.

This Sunday was a "raw scripture" Sunday. We looked at the real, messy, unfiltered reality of ancient family dynamics in Genesis, and it’s completely natural to hear a story like that and think, "That is just messed up."

But here’s the good news: God doesn't wait for us to clean up our lives, our histories, or our family lines before He goes to work. He takes broken people, messy stories, and crooked lines and still carries out His faithful purpose.

God builds His promises through our mess.

Whatever mess you’re navigating this week, know that God isn’t intimidated by it. His grace meets us right in the middle of it.

We spend so much energy trying to curate the perfect family, the perfect image, and the smooth path. But what happens when we wake up to family drama, broken patterns, and messy realities?

The good news of Scripture is that God doesn't need a picture-perfect family to fulfill a holy promise.

Whether you feel overlooked, exhausted from performing, or stuck dealing with the consequences of your own wrong turns—God’s grace is at work in your story.

Join us Sunday at Sleeper United Methodist Church as we look at Genesis 29 and see how God meets us right in the middle of the mess.

We just wanted to say a massive thank you to everyone across our tri-church community for giving Kaitlyn and me such an incredibly warm welcome to the area!

It was an absolute joy to gather with everyone from Sleeper, Richland, and Lebanon. A huge thank you to the wonderful folks who organized the get-together, put so much hard work into setting things up, brought out all the fantastic food, and took the time to come out and introduce themselves.

We feel incredibly blessed by your hospitality, and we are so excited to see how God moves in our churches and this community as we journey forward together!

Blessings,
Pastor Isaac
