Today Prayer
Great God in heaven, we thank You this morning again, first of all for this food that You have so graciously given us and for our night’s rest from which we have all awakened unharmed. Give us grace this day so that we might live right. Give us mercy through the blood of Your Son who covers any transgressions we have made in the weaknesses of our flesh. Forgive us our sins as we forgive those who sin against us. Give grace to our family at this time and in day ahead. And may our heart always be turned toward Your face. May we seek to walk in obedience to Your Word. In the name of the Father, and Son, the Holy Spirit, we ask this. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

Daily Bible Reading
When Jesus had sent the people away, he went into the house. His disciples came to him and said, “Explain what the illustration of the weeds in the field means.” He answered, “The one who plants the good seeds is the Son of Man. The field is the world. The good seeds are those who belong to the kingdom. The weeds are those who belong to the evil one. The enemy who planted them is the devil. The harvest is the end of the world. The workers are angels. Just as weeds are gathered and burned, so it will be at the end of time. The Son of Man will send his angels. They will gather everything in his kingdom that causes people to sin and everyone who does evil. The angels will throw them into a blazing furnace. People will cry and be in extreme pain there. Then the people who have God’s approval will shine like the sun in their Father’s kingdom. Let the person who has ears listen! Matthew 13:36-43 GW

Daily Talk
But a lifetime, of scorn or hatred? What a lifetime, of over-policing, hate crimes, unlevel playing fields, slurs called from moving cars? Is it any surprise that people living at oppressed, historically underrepresented, and marginalized intersections have rates of su***de, illness, depression so much higher than average? So many people spend their lives being screamed at and not for. Is it any wonder that so many don’t get to the end of the parade at all, much less upright and smiling? You’re in somebody’s cloud of witnesses right now, whether you know it or not. Look around. What might you scream, or whisper, or do that could help them make it all the way?
“We must not think that. It’s this awful world that we live in. The sin, the evil that people do, the wickedness. Life can be like a bucket of slop, and we get splashed somethings. You mustn’t blame God. He uses the wrongs of the world to make us right.” “God is good,” He doesn’t do wrong things and then try to make them right.
