No "sermon" today, just a post-prayer-liturgy talk on The 7 Myths of Christian Nationalism, based on William Throckmorton's THE CHRISTIAN PAST THAT WASN'T.

Hope these are helpful for quick reference when you're feeling gaslit by Christian Nationalists saying things you know can't possibly be true (because they aren't!) 🙂

Hi all,

In light of today's heat advisory, tonight's potluck will be INDOORS at 5:00pm at 2529 Missouri St, with a SHORT outdoor baptism service in the Daffron's swimming pool.

Vintage will provide the main dish; please bring a dessert and/or side dish to share + your own beverage of choice.

Swimming WILL be available, but will be at parents supervision and discretion!

BAPTISM and ALL-CHURCH POTLUCK

The next all-church potluck will be Sunday, June 28 @ 5:00pm and will lead up to a pool-side baptism service! More details in the weeks to come, but get the date/time on your calendar, and if you're interested in baptism, please let Deacon know. We have two people who are interested in getting baptized right now, but would love to have more join in!

END OF FISCAL YEAR GIVING UPDATE

The final giving numbers for May were $16,391.

Vintage is generally in good shape financially, with plenty of money in checking and savings, and we have kept expenses fairly minimal. We have spent less than we budgeted for this year, which is good, because we have also received less than we budgeted for.

Our fiscal year will end June 30, and all giving in June will help close the gap between giving we anticipated in '25 - '26, and what we ultimately received during that time. We will continue to keep you updated, and will release the new '26 - '27 budget in early July, once June numbers are in.

SUMMER ON A MISSION: STEPPIN' UP!

Kids age 4 - Grade 5
Friday, June 12th
8:45am - 4:45pm
5:00 - 7:00pm hot dog feed

The kids will have a fun filled day as they participate in grade level
groups. They will be "Steppin' Up" to make crafts, praise God and do projects to serve others in the community.

Hi Vintage - here's today's message on God's generosity, and what generosity might look like in our lives. Be sure to check out the linked "Unsung Hero" video showed during the message, and this poem by David Bjorlin:

Build a longer table, not a higher wall,
feeding those who hunger, making room for all.
Feasting together, stranger turns to friend,
Christ breaks walls to pieces; false divisions end.

Build a safer refuge, not a larger jail;
where the weak find shelter, mercy will not fail.
For any place where justice is denied,
Christ will break the jail walls, freeing all inside.

Build a broader doorway, not a longer fence.
Love protects all people, sparing no expense.
When we embrace compassion more than fear,
Christ tears down our fences: all are welcome here.

When we lived as exiles, refugees abroad,

So must our tables welcome those who roam.
