On September 6th, 1956 St. John opened it's doors as Lawrence's first Catholic school.

As we prepare to mark St. John School's 70th anniversary, we remember the people whose faith and perseverance laid the foundation.

The first school campaign committee consisted of Rt. Rev. Msgr. George Towle and 94 parishioners of St. John.

70 years ago this week, St John School opened its doors as Lawrence's first Catholic school!

For nearly a decade, the possibility of establishing a Catholic school in Lawrence was discussed and pursued, with Rt. Rev. Msgr. George Towle playing a leading role in bringing that vision to life. As plans moved forward, a campaign organization of 95 parishioners joined the effort to help make the school a reality.

This Sunday marks 70 years since that first day.

On this Memorial Day, we remember and honor the brave men and women who gave their lives in service to our nation. Today’s Gospel (John 19:25-34) shows us Mary, the Mother of the Church, standing at the foot of the Cross with the beloved disciple. In the midst of suffering and sacrifice, Jesus entrusts His mother to us — and us to one another.May the Lord grant eternal rest to all who have fallen, comfort their families, and help us live as one family in faith, gratitude, and peace.
