Applications open for Canon Jordan Scholarship Applications are being accepted for the Reverend Canon A.Gerard Jordan Scholarship established by the Jordan Family and TheTolton Ambassadors of Louisiana. The Deadline To Submit Applications is June 30,2026. The Scholarship, to be awarded in the amount of $500, will focus on single mothers enrolled full-time in an accredited college or university and will be awarded annually in the fall semester. The presentation of the scholarship will take place in July in conjunction with a prayer breakfast honoring the first recognizably African American Roman Catholic Priest in the United States, the Venerable Father Augustus Tolton. Each scholarship applicant will be required to submit a personal needs statement of no more than 500 words indicating why she thinks she deserves this financial assistance and why she thinks she is the best candidate for this scholarship. A minimum GPA of 2.5 is required. In addition, each applicant must submit official college university transcripts along with two letters of recommendation. Applications are in the vestibule and the office.

O God, Master of this passing world, hear the humble voices of your children. The Sea of Galilee obeyed Your order and returned to its former quietude. You are still the Master of the land and sea. We live in the shadow of a danger over which we have no control. The Gulf, like a provoked and angry giant, can awake from its seeming lethargy and over step its conventional boundaries, invade our land and spread chaos and disaster. During this hurricane season, we turn to You, O loving Father. Spare us from past tragedies whose memories are still so vivid and whose wounds seem to refuse to heal with the passing of time. O Virgin, Star of the Sea, Our Beloved Mother, we ask you to plead with your Son in our behalf, so that spared from the calamities common to this area and animated with a true spirit of gratitude, we walk in the footsteps of your Divine Son to reach the heavenly Jerusalem where stormless eternity awaits us. Diocesan Consecration Mass In an historic moment, U.S. bishops will consecrate the United States to the Sacred Heart of Jesus on June 11.This is a significant spiritual moment for our nation and opportunity for everyone to join in prayer and devotion. To participate locally, The Most Reverend Glen John Provost, Bishop of the Lake Charles Diocese, will celebrate the Diocesan Consecration Mass at 6:00p.m. on Thursday, June11, in the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, 935 Bilbo Street, in Lake Charles. All clergy and laity are invited to attend this momentous celebration
St.Joseph Society Donations
St.Joseph Society is accepting monetary donations to help defray the costs of the annual St.Joseph Table. Donations can be inserted in the “Wooden DonationBox” at the back of the Church.The donations process is an ongoing effort. Any donation amount is welcomed. Thank you for your support.
The Diocese wishes to honor any couple celebrating their 25th, 50th, 55th , 60th, 65th or 70th year of marriage. The diocesan Wedding Anniversary Celebration will be held at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception on Sunday, June 14, 2026, at the 11:15 a.m. mass. Group pictures of attendees will be taken immediately following Mass with refreshments to follow in the Ave Maria Hall. Family members are welcome to attend.
