Mass Etiquette (Do's and Don'ts):
During the summer months, people often become more casual in the way we dress and even in our attitude about attending
church. Here is a friendly reminder of how to properly prepare and attend Mass:
• Fast: No food or drink one hour before receiving Holy Communion (except water).
• Come Early: Arrive enough time for quiet meditation and to prepare your heart for Mass.
• Dress Properly: Chose clothing that shows respect and reverence to God. (no short pants)
• Phones silent: Turn off or silence phones to avoid distraction at Mass.
• Genuflect: Kneel on your right knee towards Jesus in the tabernacle when entering your pew.
• Participate: Sing and respond to join with the angels and congregation to off your worship.
• Prepare your heart: Examine your conscience and pray for the grace of Mass.
• Be Still: Don't hurry, enjoy your time in the Lord's presence.
Be Quiet: Remember Church is the Lord's house. Conversations and loud talking should be done in the entrance vestibule, outside, or some other place, but not in the main part of the church.

JOIN US ON THE COAST THIS SUNDAY!

Bishop Glen John Provost will be the celebrant for the “Mass to Avert Storms” at 11:30 a.m. on Sunday, May 31, ahead of the 2026 Hurricane Season that begins on Monday, June 1. The annual Mass will take place at Sacred Heart of Jesus Parish Life Center, 5250 West Creole Highway, Cameron, LA 70631.

Immediately following, a vehicle procession will travel a short distance to the Historic Shrine of Our Lady Star of the Sea, 135 Our Lady Road, in Cameron, where the Litany of Loreto and the Prayer for Protection during Hurricane Season will be recited. The Shrine has been granted the privilege of inserting the invocation of “Star of the Sea” in the Litany.

The Shrine enjoys, with papal approval, the same spiritual privileges as would a pilgrimage to the Basilica of Saint Mary Major in Rome, one of the four major basilicas in the Eternal City. The pilgrimage provides a plenary indulgence with the fulfillment of certain requirements, including recent confession, reception of Holy Communion, prayers for the Holy Father, and the recitation of the Creed.

"A Widow’s Mite" will host its first meeting at 6PM on Monday, June 1, 2026, at Saint Charles Center, Katharine Drexel Conference Center. The community support group welcomes young widows with children, but all are invited.
