Catholic Charities of Southwest Louisiana The mission of Catholic Charities of Southwest Louisiana is to be Christ's merciful love to those who suffer.

The Diocese of Lake Charles, established in 1980, was carved from the area in Southwest Louisiana that formerly made up the Diocese of Lafayette. After the diocese's formation, it continued to provide assistance to those in need through its Office of Catholic Social Services. This was done with financial assistance to those in need to pay rent, mortgages, and utilities. A food pantry was also part of the operation as well as providing clothing for those in need.

Catholic Charities of Southwest Louisiana is deeply saddened by the passing of Ms. Pearl Cole, a truly special lady who meant so much to our agency and to the many people whose lives she touched.

Ms. Pearl was loved, respected and cherished by our staff, volunteers and the many clients shared between Catholic Charities and Abraham's Tent. Her kindness, compassion and generous spirit made a lasting difference, making people feel seen, valued and cared for.

Ms. Pearl's impact on our community cannot be measured. She gave of herself freely and faithfully, leaving behind a legacy of love, service and compassion that points to Jesus Christ, and that will continue to inspire us here at Catholic Charities of Southwest Louisiana.

We are grateful for the gift of Ms. Pearl Cole and for the many ways God worked through her to bring about His kingdom on Earth.

Our Lake Charles food distribution ran smoothly today thanks to the hard work, dedication and big hearts of this incredible volunteer crew!

More than 200 cars came through our food distribution line, and we are so grateful for every volunteer who helped make it possible.
