POLICE JURY ANNOUNCES SUMMER FOOD
SERVICE PROGRAM'S 2026 KICKOFF

The Calcasieu Parish Police Jury Human Services Department will begin the 2026 Summer Food Service Program on Monday, June 1, at multiple Calcasieu Parish locations.

Lunch will be served daily, Monday through Friday, until Friday, July 24. Sites will be closed on Friday, June 19, for the Juneteenth holiday and Friday, July 3, in observance of the Fourth of July holiday.

All children ages 18 and under will receive meals at no charge. No registration is required. Program acceptance and participation requirements are the same for all children - regardless of race, color, national origin, s*x, or disability.

Meals will be provided on a first-come, first-served basis from 11:30 a.m.- 12:30 p.m. at the following locations:

Iowa High School, 401 West Miller Ave., Iowa.
J.I. Watson Elementary School, 201 East First St., Iowa.
Martin Luther King Jr. Community Center, 2009 N. Simmons St., Lake Charles.
Moss Bluff Middle School, 297 Park Road, Moss Bluff.
First Baptist Church, 401 S. Huntington St., Sulphur.
Kyle Street Park (SPAR), 200 Kyle St., Sulphur.
Sulphur High Ninth Grade Campus, 600 Willow Ave., Sulphur.
W.T. Henning Elementary School, 774 Henning Drive, Sulphur.
Westlake Recreation Center, 1221 Sampson St., Westlake.
Westwood Elementary School, 900 Sampson St., Westlake.
Additionally, the following sites will serve breakfast from 8-9 a.m.:

Kyle Street Park (SPAR), 200 Kyle St., Sulphur.

Westwood Elementary School, 900 Sampson St., Westlake.
“Behind every meal served by the Summer Food Service Program is a message to every child: You matter, and you are cared for,” said Felicia Davis, Program Coordinator. “Last year, we served more than 12,372 breakfasts and 27,219 lunches, helping fight summer hunger by providing nutritious meals to thousands of children.”

All food must be eaten on site – no food can be taken out of the facilities.

Representatives from the Women's Home Mission of New Sunlight Baptist Church volunteered on Sat., May 23rd at Abraham’s Tent. The Pre-Women's Day service activity included serving meals and weekend snacks to the homeless and our neighbors facing food insecurity. Volunteers were Sisters Tiffany Washington, Glenda Bennett, Elizabeth Jackson, Gloria Jackson, Katrina Evans, Destany Washington, Zelia Washington, WHM President, and friend of NSBC, Kyrie Thomas. Photoed are volunteers with Ted Authement, director. We are grateful for the opportunity to serve. Women's Day is set for Sunday, Aug. 2nd at 11 a.m. More info is forthcoming. Rev.
