What a fantastic evening with Kevin Burdette, Eileen Downey, and the choral ensemble! The audience gave a standing ovation for the wonderful performance of Schubert's "Die Winterreise."
We are grateful to our Master Arts Series sponsors whose support allowed several of our Choral Scholars to work with and learn from the performers as well as sing on this program!

Meet the artist! Eileen Downey
Master Arts Series presents "Die Winterreise," Thursday, Feb. 12th, 7:00 pm

Eileen Downey is currently Vocal Coach and Distinguished Lecturer of Collaborative Piano at the University of Tennessee in Knoxville, where she also works frequently with Knoxville Opera Company. She has been on the faculty of SongFest, AIMS in Graz, and the Brevard Music Center, and plays regularly for the Metropolitan Opera Laffont Competition and the Opera Birmingham Vocal Competition. During the fall of 2024, Ms. Downey performed at the College Music Society National Conference in Washington, D.C. and taught a residency at Vanderbilt University. Eileen is an alumna of the Merola Opera Program, Opera North, SongFest, Aspen Opera Theater Center, Project Canción Española, and the Opera Theatre and Music Festival of Lucca, Italy.

Meet the artist! Kevin Burdette

Dubbed “the Robin Williams of opera” by the New York Times, Knoxville native and Grammy honoree Kevin Burdette has performed with many of the world's premier opera houses (La Scala, the Metropolitan Opera, il Gran Teatre del Liceu, Santa Fe Opera, and Teatro Colón), and symphony orchestras (Los Angeles Philharmonic, with Gustavo Dudamel; Philadelphia Orchestra, with Yannick Nézet-Séguin, Chicago Symphony Orchestra; Philharmonia Orchestra, with Esa-Pekka Salonen and BBC Symphony Orchestra). A graduate of The Juilliard School and the University of Tennessee, he is honored to be returning to the Master Arts Series with his long-time collaborator Eileen Downey.
