CollegeLIFE

CollegeLIFE We exist to call college students to take their next steps with Jesus, together, on mission. CollegeLife is Fellowship Church’s College Ministry.

We desire to call students to take their next step of faith in Jesus Christ. We do this through a weekly gathering on Monday nights at Fellowship Church at 8pm. Also, we have weekly co-ed groups that meet on either Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday nights that are led by some of our adult leaders in their homes. There are other opportunities to connect with students and go deeper with Jesus in disci

pleship groups and equipping nites. Wherever you are in your walk with Jesus, we want to help come alongside you.

Merry Christmas 🎄

We hope today you get to celebrate with those you love this simple truth — the God of the cosmos isn’t unapproachable. Nor is He disinterested. He humbly took on human flesh to prove He’s near and accessible if we’d simply come to Him in honesty.

“And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we have seen his glory, glory as of the only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth.”
John 1:14

This past Monday, we got to honor and commission our seniors and Abby! It was a night of celebration and anticipation.

We’re excited to see what God does through the lives of our seniors as they step into young adulthood.

Also, what a time celebrating Abby after 7 years of faithful and diligent work with CollegeLife. We’ll miss her.

As we think about Abby’s time with us and her ministry, Philemon 1:7 rings true:

“For I have derived much joy and comfort from your love, my sister because the hearts of the saints have been refreshed through you.”

The truth of Easter is still true this Monday.

Jesus makes us new. New people, invited into a new family, given a new mission.

He really is better than we believe him to be. Believe, rejoice, and rest in him today.

\\ HOLY WEEK: Sunday \\

Early Sunday morning, some of the women who followed Jesus went to His tomb to discover it empty after an angel declared it to them (Matt. 28:6).

With great joy, they leave the tomb and go declare it to the other disciples. As they told the disciples what had taken place, Jesus appears to reassure them it was true. He had risen indeed!

This morning changed the cosmos. Paul declares that if Jesus didn't *physically* raise from the dead, then Christians are to be the most pitied, our faith is worthless, and we are still in our sins.

But the truth is that our Crucified King did raise! And because He did, He can do what He said He could do: forgive us of our sins & restore us back into relationship with the Father. But not only that, Jesus' resurrection defeated sin, death, and Satan. And now, those who would turn from their sin and pledge their allegiance to Jesus by faith, they too would be resurrected, spiritually & physically.

No longer a child of sin and satan, but a child of God.

No longer under condemnation from God, but under the grace and mercy of God.

No longer stained by their transgression, but made whole and righteous in Christ.

No longer striving to earn favor from their Maker, but favor freely bestowed on them.

No longer seen as a enemy of God, but as a friend.

No longer under the bo***ge of sin, but free to walk in power and hope.

No longer seeking life, joy, and fulfillment in a broken cisterns, but drinking from the living water, which satisfies our souls.

Holy Week - Holy Saturday //

Don’t rush from Friday to Sunday. We have much to learn from Saturday.

Saturday teaches us that God’s silence does not always equate God’s absence. He is oftentimes silently working while we wait.

And oftentimes we must go through a silent Saturday to get to a resurrected Sunday.

\\ HOLY WEEK: Good Friday \\

After a night of false trials, and a morning of beating and carrying his own cross, Jesus is crucified at around 9am. His crucifixion would last 6 hours, and as soon as “it was finished”, Jesus breathed His last.

In this moment of agony & pain, Jesus, God in the flesh, bears the full weight of God’s just wrath against sin on Himself. Jesus pays the cost necessary for mankind to be reconciled back to their God.

“5 But he was pierced because of our rebellion,
crushed because of our iniquities;
punishment for our peace was on him,
and we are healed by his wounds.
6 We all went astray like sheep;
we all have turned to our own way;
and the Lord has punished him
for the iniquity of us all.”
Isaiah 53:5-6

“But now he has appeared one time, at the end of the ages, for the removal of sin by the sacrifice of himself. 27 And just as it is appointed for people to die once—and after this, judgment —28 so also Christ, having been offered once to bear the sins of many, will appear a second time, not to bear sin, but to bring salvation to those who are waiting for him.” Hebrews 9:27-28

At the time of Jesus’ death, His disciples, nor anyone knew these realities were true. They mourned the death of their friend, teacher, leader, and Savior.

They failed to grasp the significance of a Savior who completed His work not through his strength and power exerted, but through humility and weakness displayed. The very things He call them to soon.

But Sunday is coming.

He really is.

We jumped back into our James series last night and walked through a good chunk of chapter 2.

A small nugget of goodness is found at the end of verse 13: mercy triumphs over judgment.

Justice demands that the sinner should be condemned; but mercy pleads that they not be given what they deserve — and mercy prevails for those who believe and rest in the person and work of our King, Jesus.

And James says that when we understand the mercy shown to us, we will be a people who are eager to bestow it to others.

The end of our formation and discipleship to Jesus is simply more of Him.

More of His presence, His power, His love working in our head, our hearts, and our hands.

Jesus isn’t a means to an end, He is the end. Discipleship to him is for our flourishing, our joy, and our good. Not merely for what it can bring about in our lives.

What’s your next step with Jesus? We long to come alongside you in that step.
