Sunday at 11, at Westside and YouTube. A few weeks ago, the Department of Defense dropped 180 faiths from its list of recognized religions, consolidating them into the two broader categories of "other religion" and "no religion." Unitarian Universalism was one of the traditions that was cut, so which of these new categories do we fit into? Are we an "other" religion or "no" religion at all? This is something UUs don't necessarily agree on, so let's consider both possibilities, and what they might mean for us. YouTube link https://www.youtube.com/live/GL1hnaFNEY4

Sunday at 11, at Westside and streaming to YouTube. In an older version of our denominational bylaws, UU's identified a number of 'sources' of inspiration for our tradition. One of these was "direct experiences of transcending mystery and wonder." Many UU's experience mystical moments that are central to their spiritual journeys, so today we consider the place of mysticism in our living tradition.
Potluck after service on this day.

If you've been to Westside recently, you might have seen our rattan test person. They went away for a while so that our B&G man Dave G. could improve the design. Now they're back, with the whole rattan family! Stop by and say hello.

When we think of speaking compassionately, we often include evaluations, judgements and assessments as part of our framing. What does it mean to leave evaluation or assessment—in other words, judgment—entirely out of the ways we speak and act towards one another? Is it even possible? And why would we want to do it? This week, we explore and practice the Non-Violent Communication method that many Westsiders have been studying in recent months. Link in comments.
Compassionate Communication practice group is open to anyone interested, from 12:30-2pm on this day.
Earth Church is from 2-3pm on this day.

Breaking News: Water Visits Westside RE Wing, Leaves Wetness
The recent heavy rains caused water to sneak under a few doors in the RE wing, causing some damage to the walls, baseboards, paint, etc. Fortunately our crack Building & Grounds team of Jerry, Anne, and Dave were there with mops, brooms, and wet-dry vacs. The B&G team is inspecting the damage to ensure no mold is present. We will keep you updated.

This Sunday at 11, at Westside and YouTube. Based on the song "Change Is Coming" by composer Molly Bajgot, we consider how to accept the changes in our world, how to name and deal with the emotions these changes bring, and then imagine a response that is life-affirming and inspirational. Way back in 2024, Westside's officially-endorsed UU seminarian Pastor HP Rivers (they/she) offered us a glimpse of what goes into becoming a Unitarian Universalist minister - including an advanced degree, internship, full psychological evaluation, and more. This Sunday they are back to give us an update on that process, their community-based ministry, and how UU religious professionals all over the country are meeting this moment in bold and faithful ways.
