What kind of church will we be while we wait for God’s next steps?

Yesterday as we looked at Nehemiah 1-2, we were reminded that God’s people are called to be more than spectators. We are called to be faithful servants.

When Nehemiah heard about the brokenness of Jerusalem, he didn’t ignore it. He cared deeply. He prayed persistently. He trusted God completely. And when the opportunity came, he invited others to join the work.

As Calvary continues through this season of transition and pastor search, the challenge is clear:

❤️ Have a heart for God’s kingdom, God’s glory, and God’s people.

🙏 Pray persistently for our church, our search committee, and our future pastor.

🤝 Work together in the mission God has given us.

🏗️ Begin the good work—and keep going until it’s complete. The same God who guided Nehemiah is guiding us today.

“Being confident of this very thing, that He who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.” — Philippians 1:6

You’re not who you used to be.

Stop seeing yourself as the “old model” when God has made you brand new.

In Christ, you’re not just patched up. You’re completely transformed! A new identity. A new purpose. A new life.

Old mindset vs. new creation. Which one are you living from?

Today we celebrate the incredible women who love, lead, pray, nurture, encourage, and show up again and again—moms, grandmas, moms-to-be, and so many who are “like a mom” in someone’s life. Your impact is real, powerful, and worth celebrating!

We also gently acknowledge those who are carrying heavier stories today, like grief, longing, or complicated relationships. We want you to know that you’re seen, valued, and loved.

Today we celebrate you. All of you. Happy Mother’s Day! 💛💐

We all try to be “good enough.”

Some go further than others…but the truth is, none of us make it on our own.

“For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God…”

And yet, “…are justified freely by His grace.” (Romans 3:23–24)

You don’t earn it. You receive it.

The Apostle Paul declares a life-changing truth in Romans 8:31-39:

If God is for us, who can be against us?

Because of Jesus:

• God’s purpose for you is unstoppable. Because of the cross, your life is not held together by your performance, but by His grace. If God gave His Son, He will provide everything you truly need.

• Christ’s advocacy for you is unbreakable. Jesus didn’t just save you; He still stands for you. Even now, He is interceding on your behalf. Your standing with God isn’t based on how well you hold on, but on how faithfully Christ holds you.

• God’s love for you is inseparable. No hardship, failure, fear, or circumstance can separate you from His love. In every situation, we are more than conquerors through Him.

Bottom line // Your security isn’t situational. It’s relational. You are in Christ, and nothing can change that.

This past Sunday, Pastor Dan began his message with a lighthearted story from the marathon cheer party. What started as a quick coffee run turned into 40 minutes of dead ends and blocked roads, and even though he knew all the shortcuts, he couldn’t find a way through.

He used that moment as a picture of how prayer can feel. At times, we try every route, every word, and still come up empty, unsure what to say or how to pray. But he also reminded us of a powerful truth from Romans 8:26-30: when we don’t know what to pray, the Holy Spirit steps in and intercedes for us. Our prayer life isn’t dependent on our words, but on His perfect work on our behalf.

The message also reframed what it means for “all things to work together for good.” That good isn’t our comfort; it’s our transformation. God is using every circumstance to make us more like Jesus.

The encouragement was simple and freeing: pray honestly, trust the Spirit’s help, and remember you’re not a project to fix, but family to love. Even when you feel lost in the middle of the story, God is faithfully leading you to a finished and certain future.
