Engage: A Church Movement

Engage: A Church Movement We are a church movement inspired by Jesus, impacting our City and the World, together. OUR CORE VALUES

We actively resist apathy. You belong here.

Matthew 22:37, “Jesus replied: 'Love the Lord your God with ALL your heart and with ALL your soul and with ALL your mind.’”

Romans 12:11-13, “Do not be slothful in zeal, be fervent in spirit, serve the Lord. Rejoice in hope, be patient in tribulation, be constant in prayer. Contribute to the needs of the saints and seek to show hospitality.”

Galatians 6:9, “And let us not grow weary of doing

good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up.”

We are a welcoming community. No matter where you are in your faith journey, you are welcome here. We believe no one should be on the outside looking in to the family of God. Galatians 3:28, “There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is no male and female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus.”

Leviticus 19:24, “You shall treat the stranger who sojourns with you as the native among you, and you shall love him as yourself, for you were strangers in the land of Egypt: I am the Lord your God.”

We live in relationship with one another because we believe life change happens best in community. We are learning together what it means to be a Kingdom community – filled with people from different backgrounds, with unique perspectives and in different places on their faith journey coming together in pursuit of authentic relationship with Jesus and each other. Acts 2:44–47, “All the believers were together and had everything in common. They sold property and possessions to give to anyone who had need. Every day they continued to meet together in the temple courts. They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts, praising God and enjoying the favor of all the people. And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved.”

We participate in the remedying of the concerns of our community and the world. We call this “missions.” But we like to think of it as simply living out our Christian faith. James 2:14-17, “What good is it, my brothers, if someone says he has faith but does not have works? Can that faith save him? If a brother or sister is poorly clothed and lacking in daily food, and one of you says to them, “Go in peace, be warmed and filled,” without giving them the things needed for the body, what good is that? So also faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead.”

We share the hope of Jesus through our stories. We believe the best way to share the hope of Jesus with others is to share what He’s doing in our own lives. By sharing our stories, we are acting as witnesses to His goodness. Acts 1:8, “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”

1 Chronicles 16:24, “Declare his glory among the nations, his marvelous deeds among all peoples.”

Acts 13:47, “For this is what the Lord has commanded us: ‘I have made you a light for the Gentiles, that you may bring salvation to the ends of the earth.’”

Theme: In the Beginning: Take a moment to pause and get a closer look at the amazing world around us—trees, oceans, animals, and even you! What’s even more amazing is that it was all created by God, for God. From the beginning of time, God created everything with care and purpose, showing incredible love for all of creation—especially us. The best thing we can do is give that love back by taking care of the world God has given us.

Scriptures: Genesis 1:1–25; 2:1–3; Psalm 33:4–9

Big Idea: God made the world and everything in it.

Memory Verse: “The earth is the Lord’s, and everything in it, the world, and all who live in it.” — Psalm 24:1 (NIV)

Discipleship Emphasis: Share Your Story. We all need to learn how to talk about who God is and what God is doing in our lives. Sharing our stories of faith isn’t just something we do from a stage or microphone—faith becomes a regular, ongoing part of everyday conversation. When we share our stories, our faith grows!

In The Arena -- My husband and his father are avid followers of AMA Supercross, and the season’s supercross (indoor) part just came to an end. For the 450 class, the season consists of 17 races, with riders earning points based on their finish. 1st place earns 25 points, 2nd place earns 24 points, 3rd place earns 23 points, and so on. The goal is to end the season with the most points, and you are the AMA Supercross Champion. Hunter Lawrence was in the lead towards the end of the season, and the championship came down to the final race, the final point

I Don't Know -- “I don’t know.” Frightening, weighted words that sludge down our throats and swirl with anxiety around our chest. Or at least that’s how they used to feel for me. I used to cringe when I wouldn’t know something. The physical sensations they would cause were unpleasant and undesirable. I wanted the presumed comfort of knowing, the control it felt like it gave me. And so my brain sighed with relief as I trudged into the world of assumptions and best guesses when trying to figure something out. Not knowing also feels very dangerous to our brains. It doesn’t instinctively bode

What Happens When We Follow the Nudge? -- There are countless needs in every community. None of us can step into all of them. But sometimes, through a conversation, a relationship, or a quiet stirring we can’t shake, God places one particular invitation right in front of us. For Valerie Weyand, a member at Centennial Covenant Church in Colorado, that invitation began with a refugee family. Back in 2019, Valerie found herself asking how she might contribute to more thoughtful and compassionate conversations around refugees and immigrants in her community. Then one Sunday at church, she heard an announcement about a team forming to mentor a refugee family. “I could do that,” she

One Step at a Time -- When our son Theo was diagnosed with a complex congenital heart difference, our family learned to live one step at a time. Big plans felt too fragile; faith, it turns out, works that way too. Scripture calls us to “walk by faith,” to “walk in step with the Spirit.” Walk one step at a time. That rhythm has shaped how we navigate life, including where our kids go to school. In the fall of 2025, we made a change – moving both children to our neighborhood public elementary school, Hale Cook, in part so our daughter Grace could access speech

The Flip Side -- Often, the situations we encounter in life have a lens through which we view them. The meetings at work are a cause of immense stress. The conversations with friends after we’ve had a conflict with them can invoke anxiety. The repetitive house tasks that come again all too quickly are overwhelming and annoying. These emotions are valid. They deserve a spot at our emotional table. But sometimes these emotions are a lot. To the point where they are too much. We feel little else but these emotions and can’t seem to shake them. A helpful thing to try when this
