We are cheering on our talented organist, Sharee Thompson, as she performs at the historic Methuen Concert Hall! The organ pictured (with Sharee on the left) was the first concert organ bulit in the United States. Being invited to perform in the Methuen Summer Concert series is a high honor for any organist.

A week ago our young adults kicked off summer with a night cheering on the KC Monarchs! We hooted and hollered, watched fireworks, ate hot dogs, and visited late into the evening. It was a joyous gathering that remidned us what a gift it is to be together.

🌈 We spent time at coffee hour this past Sunday writing words of affirmation for the LGBTQ community. We cannot wait to share these love notes at our "take an affirmation, leave an affirmation" station at Pridefest.

Thank you to the many affirming saints that wrote these beautiful words. You give us hope for this world.

Congratulations to the kiddos of Early Childhood Learning Center of Kansas City on their graduation! It is such a joy to see them learn, sing, and play throughout the year at Second!

Last Sunday we filled the sanctuary with over 100 people who were absolutely dazzled by the remarkable organ performance provided by our very own Sharee Thompson. With up close video streams of her hands and feet, we had to scoop our jaws up off the floor. Thank you to all who came! It was an afternoon of holy awe and wonder.

There is nothing better than a sanctuary full of joyful, wiggly kids. For as Sam Murphy will sometimes remind us- "If the church doesn't have babies crying, it's probably dying."

Thanks to all the parents who brought their kids to worship this year, through tears, first steps, sunny days and cold weather, as we integrated kids into the service for the first time in years. Their presence makes us better.

This church would not be what it is without the countless volunteer hours that make this place run. From ushers and front desk volunteers, to Second Sunday Lunch cooks, food pantry delivery drivers, Sunday school teachers, worship liturgists, committee members, officers and more- we are built on the generosity of this joyful community. So thank you to all our volunteers! We were honored to celebrate you this past Sunday.
