This week, our very own Carol Grimaldi loaded groceries from Second's food drive into her car and delivered them to Covenant's Food Pantry. She said that it's common to see empty shelves at the pantry.

Food insecurity is a real problem in our country. Thank you to all who donated during this August's "More than Just a Summer Picnic" food drive. Keep those donations coming! Every item helps make a difference.

In August, we asked those in worship if they’d be willing to paint their hands with colorful paint and leave a handprint for our sermon series and stewardship campaign titled “What Will We Tell the Children?” We love seeing these little children hands mixed in with the adult hands that are helping guide, nurture, and support the younger generations at Second.

Stay tuned this month as we reflect on the lessons our faith bestows upon us – lessons of love, justice, belonging, and hope. Together, we'll look toward the next generation with hope in our hearts, and we'll pay it forward. So, what do you want the next generation to know? What would you tell the children about God, community, and Second?

Sunday school is back, our choir returns, we’ll jump into a new sermon series called “What Will We Tell the Children?”, our stewardship season begins, and we’ll continue the celebration at a ministry market for you to explore ways to connect and volunteer this fall. We’ll even have cake!

Welcome to Sophia Thuenemann to the Second Pres team! Sophia is our new Director of Engagement and we are thrilled to welcome her to the team! Sophia is a lifelong Presbyterian with a background rooted in youth development, advocacy, education, and community engagement.

Sophia loves traveling, live music, reading, spending time outdoors, and creative projects.

Yesterday was her first day in the office, so you can look forward to seeing her on Sunday morning (if not before)!

Twice a month, Second members volunteer their time and energy to serve at Cross-Lines Community Outreach, Inc. Together they dice vegetables, clean produce, blend spices and serve meals to those who are hungry.

They do this work because no one should ever be hungry.
And they do this work because Jesus said, "Feed my sheep."
