Unbound: The Intersections of Faith and Justice has launched a Q***ring the Bible series for Pride month focusing on the Gospel of Luke.

The Rev. Joshua Clapp, a member of the inaugural class of CNP's Covenant Fellows program, opens the series with a commentary on Luke 1, finding in its nativity stories a God who honors physical bodies and stands especially with those facing oppression. As Clapp writes, "From those wandering in the wilderness—and John did until his first public appearance to Israel—to those standing invisible among the crowds, q***rness has and will always exist. It is woven into the very fabric of the incarnation."

As the 227th General Assembly approaches, CNP is sharing its recommendations on key items of business. As Pride month begins, we are celebrating the gifts of LGBTQIA+ people across the church and the world by lifting up the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.)'s 223rd General Assembly statement, "On Celebrating the Gifts of People of Diverse Sexual Orientations and Gender Identities in the Life of the Church." At the link in the comments below, CNP's resource library offers "An Unending Love," an affirming poem and prayer by Rabbi Rami Shapiro that celebrates God's unconditional embrace, well suited for interfaith Pride services and inclusive worship.

CNP's positions on overtures and committee recommendations before the Constitutional Interpretation Committee (CON) at the 227th General Assembly are available at the link below. CNP strongly opposes CON-04, an overture from Northwest Coast Presbytery seeking a special committee to constrain the implementation of Amendments 24-A and 24-C, two amendments related to inclusion and ratified by presbyteries in 2025. CNP also opposes CON-10, an overture from Sierra Blanca Presbytery to add a monogamy standard for officers, and urges that its underlying questions be referred to the comprehensive study on the ethics of sexuality already recommended to the Assembly.

A new statement from the PC(USA)'s Advocacy Committee for LGBTQIA+ Equity (ACQ+E) affirms the transgender community and challenges the church to speak clearly in a moment when federal rhetoric has cast support for trans neighbors in the language of extremism. The statement reminds readers that transgender people "were created with intention, dignity and sacred worth" and offers a direct message to transgender siblings: "You are not a mistake, nor a debate, nor a political talking point... CNP's positions on overtures and committee recommendations before the Gender and Sexuality Justice Committee (GEN) at the 227th General Assembly are available at the link below. CNP's top priority is GEN-09, the Advisory Committee on Social Witness Policy's recommendation for a comprehensive theological framework on sexuality, relationships, and family. CNP also supports recommendations addressing the church's complicity in the HIV/AIDS crisis, LGBTQIA+ candidate visibility in the call process, an annual National Q***r Presbyterians Gathering, and a voluntary congregational self-audit guide.
