A special congratulations to Chaplain Marc Massie on being recently selected for U.S. Navy Captain!

This is a very prestigious and major accomplishment in one's military career. There are very few chaplains who receive the distinction of becoming a Captain. The selection process is rigorous with few promotions available. Candidates are evaluated on leadership, mission accomplishment, character, and future potential, in addition to having advanced chaplain education and naval officer education. To be selected as Navy Captain is truly a remarkable achievement.

We congratulate Chaplain Massie on this amazing achievement. We are so thankful for his ministry and heart to serve our men and women in the US Navy.

Not only will he be one of our keynote speakers, but he is also leading one of the breakout sessions on Tuesday afternoon. He has ministered in a small church setting for over 40 years and brings great insight from his decades long pastoral experience. He is author, podcaster, pastor, and speaker. He produces resources for Helping Small Churches Thrive. Tuesday's breakout session will What's Working In Churches That Are Thriving.

On Tuesday afternoon of General Conference, Rev. Kevin Cain will be sharing during a session entitled: The Way Wholistic: Wellness & Discipleship. Rev. Cain is an ordained elder in the EMC and is the founding pastor of Kingdom: a Community Church in Westover, WV. He is also the founder of the Source Foundation, which is the ministry arm of Kingdom into their community: caring for the physical & spiritual needs of families in their community and making healthy disciples. We are excited to have Pastor Kevin share with us in our breakout session on Tuesday.

On this day of Pentecost we celebrate the coming of Holy Spirit to dwell within man. Our counselor and helper, empowering and transforming us into the image of the Son.

Acts 2:1-4
When the day of Pentecost came, they were all together in one place. Suddenly a sound like the blowing of a violent wind came from heaven and filled the whole house where they were sitting. They saw what seemed to be tongues of fire that separated and came to rest on each of them. All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues as the Spirit enabled them.
