In its belief that music and art are integral parts of worship, Second Presbyterian maintains a long-standing tradition of artistic excellence. Under the leadership of Dr. Michelle Louer, the music and fine arts programs of Second Church are vibrant and active, with ministries for all ages, from four-year-olds through adults. Vocal ensembles include nine choirs: Sanctuary Choir, Beecher Singers, S

ummer Choir, Women's Ensemble, Men's Ensemble, and choirs for children and youth ages 4 through twelfth grade. Instrumental ensembles include handbell choir, an inter-generational youth and adult wind ensemble, jazz trio, and professional orchestra and brass ensemble. Surrounded by highly symbolic works of art at Second Presbyterian, the Fine Arts Ministry program stewards the development of the churchโ€™s permanent art collection and rotating exhibitions in the McFarland Hall Art Gallery.

Second Presbyterian Music and Fine Arts Ministry invites the community to a special year-end event! Our professional section leaders are stepping into the spotlight for a "Cabaret" themed Art Song Recital.

This concert is our way of honoring the incredible vocalists who support our music program. Whether youโ€™re a fan of musical theater, classical art songs, or just great live performance, there is something for everyone.

๐ŸŽจ What happens when ancient truth meets modern artistic vision?

Now through June 5, the "I AM" exhibition at Second Presbyterian Church's McFarland Hall Gallery brings this question to life. The works capture Jesus's declaration of "I Am" statements within unique viewpoints of the artists, offering two profoundly different visual journeys:

Mark Rouse (1955โ€“2025) uses a vibrant blend of color to explore the seven metaphorical "I AM" statements from the Book of John, leaving behind a striking visual legacy of faith.

Michael Belk (former Vogue/GQ photographer) uses spectacular fine-art photography from his Journeys with the Messiah series, placing a 1st-century Jesus directly into the lives and contexts of 21st-century people.
