Christ Lutheran Church of Irvington was closed as a Lutheran Church Missouri Synod congregation as a part of our Closing Worship Service held today at St. I don’t know how he was able to give that sermon. We give Glory to God that we proudly worshiped Jesus Christ our Savior in our building at 345 N. Kitley Avenue for 71 years. We recently celebrated our 75th Anniversary as a co

ngregation. We worshiped in rented facilities in Irvington until we had the resources available to purchase some property on Kitley Avenue and build our sanctuary. So many memories over the years. Christmas Eve Candlelight Services, Easter Morning Sunrise Services, Sunday School classes and Bible Study classes. Celebrations of Baptisms, Confirmation Sundays, Weddings and Funeral Services. We wish to thank all of those ministers that have led our congregation over the last 77 years. We are also proud of our Irvington roots. Irvington Community Schools held their first classes Grades 1 through 3 in our building until they outgrew it. Now they have grown to PreK through Grade 12. We appreciate the way the Irvington Community supported our congregation by attending our Spaghetti Suppers and Rummage Sales. In recent years we joined with the Irvington community lighting the way of the Christ Child. Our building at 345 N. Kitley Avenue has been sold to New City Church our former tenant. They are continuing the worship of Jesus Christ in our former building. Our members are transferring to sister Lutheran Church Missouri Synod congregations. Thank God for providing all of the blessed memories of worshiping Jesus Christ at Christ Lutheran Church of Irvington!
