We join the Archdiocese of Indianapolis in mourning the passing of Fr. Stephen Jarrell, who served as pastor of Christ the King Parish from 2010 to 2017.

For seven years, Fr. Steve was an important part of the life of our parish, walking alongside our families, celebrating the sacraments, and serving the Christ the King community.

We give thanks to God for his years of faithful service to the Church.

Please keep Fr. Steve and all who loved him in your prayers. We will share funeral arrangements as soon as they are available.

Eternal rest grant unto him, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon him. May he rest in peace. Amen.

With gratitude for a lifetime of faithful priestly service, we share the news of the death of Fr. Stephen Jarrell, who passed away on August 21, 2026, at the age of 79. 🙏

Fr. Jarrell was ordained to the priesthood on May 20, 1973, and retired from active ministry in 2017. Funeral arrangements are pending.

We give thanks for Fr. Jarrell's many years of dedicated service to the Church. ⛪️

INSPIRATION FOR THE WEEK — This weekend at Mass, we heard about the Canaanite woman who did not take Jesus’ initial refusal as rejection, but rather as an invitation to engage with God, to show him the depth of her faith. When our prayers are not answered as we wish, will we have the courage to do the same?

Tomorrow, we celebrate the Solemnity of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary! This day commemorates the Catholic belief (dogma) that Mary, the Mother of Jesus, was assumed body and soul into heaven at the end of her earthly life. This places Mary in an ongoing intercessory role for those of us on Earth.

A Special Holy Day Mass will be held at 8:30 a.m.

Dear God,
In this time of difficulty, be with me. When I don’t feel Your presence or hear Your voice, sustain me.

Generosity is a hallmark of Christian discipleship. Christ placed our needs above his own, so we likewise place the needs of others above our own. Our concern for our brothers and sisters must be evident not just in what we do but in how we do it — with cheerfulness and love.

Pour Your blessing upon these summer months of sun and clouds, flowers and growth. In this season of cultivation, cultivate us as we worship, work, play, and rest in You. May this season, and all the others, serve to draw us closer to You.
