In Acts 2, the Spirit of God is described like a violent wind - powerful, present, and impossible to ignore. It’s a very different picture from the way we sometimes imagine God’s love: timid, fragile, or easily scared away.

Like a skittish deer, we can assume one wrong step will make Him disappear. But the picture in Acts is the opposite: God’s goodness is moving toward us with strength and purpose.

His love is not something you can scare away.

- Meet Steven! Each month, someone from our community leads us in communion as a reminder that we are the body of Christ together. “Now you are the body of Christ, and each one of you is a part of it” (1 Corinthians 12:27, NIV).

Having found our home in Jesus, we’re learning to become home for one another.

Hope lives between us.

What would change if you stopped carrying the parts of yourself you’ve spent years trying to hide?

The rejection. The fear. The things you were told made you too much, not enough, or unlovable. The bag gets heavy.

But God is not limited by the things we think disqualify us. He can carry what we can’t — and use us beyond the limitations we’ve placed on ourselves.

The book of Acts was written for people learning to trust the goodness and love of God while caught between two worlds: exile and empire.

Exile teaches us to survive by protecting ourselves and watching for threats. Empire tells us we can create security if we can just gain enough control.

But Acts invites us onto another road: the road of the Spirit.

The Spirit frees us from fear and control and empowers us to become living translations of God’s love, people through whom others can see and experience the goodness of God.

Through it all, we can live unhindered and sing of the goodness of God.

Throughout Acts, we see the same pattern again and again: when the church looks like it’s on its final breath, the story isn’t over.

The Spirit moves — bringing more redemption, more beauty, and more wholeness than anyone expected.
