The Church at 1548 Heights

Our congregation began in 1916. In early 2016, as we began our second century and embraced the excitement of a new beginning, we adopted a new name, The Church at 1548 Heights. We are led in the pulpit by our Preaching Minister, Dr. Matt Soper. Matt and his wife, Angela, moved to the Heights as empty-nesters a couple of years ago and joined us on our mission in January

2016. Matt is an experienced and enthusiastic Bible teacher who has the gift of breaking down complicated scriptures and applying them to our daily lives. Ann Bayliss leads our Pastoral Care and Prayer ministries. She has served for over 30 years in prayer ministry, retreat planning, campus outreach and in the study of women in ministry. She and her husband, Ed, are particularly focused on building community and resources for people living on the edge of hunger, addiction and homelessness. Our mission is to “Share Jesus” with the Heights and surrounding areas. We share Jesus by sharing the message of Jesus with those who don’t know Him, by sharing the fellowship of Jesus in worship and community life, and by sharing the love of Jesus through serving the poor, the discouraged, and the marginalized. We invite you to join us on our mission. Everything is new again at The Church at 1548 Heights! When We Meet:
Worship Sundays @ 10:30AM
Prayer Meeting - Wednesdays @ 7PM
Small Groups in homes at various times during the week.

Congratulations to Esmeralda!

Exciting Leadership Announcement!

The Board of Directors of Main Street Ministries is excited to announce the appointment of Esmeralda Reyes as its new Executive Director.

Esmeralda brings more than 30 years of nonprofit experience and a deep commitment to helping individuals and families discover pathways out of poverty.

Specifically, she has served at Main Street Ministries for the past 10 years growing from Office Manager to Program Manager, Director of Programs, and most recently Interim Executive Director.

“For the past 10 years at Main Street, I have had the privilege of witnessing staff, volunteers, partners, donors, and, most importantly, the people we serve, discover their worth, find a sense of belonging, and realize that they have the power to make their community stronger.” Esmeralda Reyes

What a blessing it has been to see how God has used Esmeralda over this time and has raised her up to lead Main Street.

Esmeralda’s appointment represents both a new chapter and a continuation of the heart of Main Street Ministries of meeting people where they are, believing in what is possible, and creating pathways toward a stronger future. We look forward to this next season of growth and impact under Esmeralda’s leadership.

You Give Them Something to Eat

Do you ever find yourself running on empty? Frustrated? Frightened? And just when you have hit the very end of your energy level and compassion, somebody puts one more thing on your plate. The feeding of the 5,000 is just such a story. Come join us tomorrow as we explore this well-known story and consider the call of Jesus to care for those around us... even when, and maybe especially when, we feel like we have nothing left to give.

COME TO THE WATERS!

We live in a world of constant noise, movement, and striving. The lure of “more” is always with us. The empty promises of the marketplace urging us forward to acquire, to store up, to hold for ourselves. Daylight turns to darkness and yet rest escapes us. Screens glowing, calling, tantalizing, tempting in the dimly lit living rooms, kitchens, and bedrooms.

Even so, through the noise, the Shepherd invites us to come to the waters, to rest in the tall grass, to drink freely the Living Water, to feast on the Bread. And so, today, our aim is to do exactly this. We want to stop, to rest, to feast, to be in communion with one another and with the Risen Lord.

"Hear, everyone who thirsts; come to the waters; and you who have no money, come, buy and eat! Come, buy wine and milk without money and without price.
Why do you spend your money for that which is not bread and your earnings for that which does not satisfy? Listen carefully to me, and eat what is good, and delight yourselves in rich food.
Incline your ear, and come to me; listen, so that you may live. I will make with you an everlasting covenant, my steadfast, sure love for David."
