Today: God Changes Everything

TODAY’S VERSE
“Once you had no identity as a people; now you are God’s people. Once you received no mercy; now you have received God’s mercy.” I Peter 2:10 (NLT)

TODAY’S THOUGHT
What a difference God can make! He can take anyone, and by the power of the Holy Spirit and the sacrifice of Christ, make them a new creature. Have you allowed Him to do that in your life? Have you come to Him in repentance and thanked Him for dying in your place so you could become His child? Have you surrendered your life to Him, allowing Him to be the ruler of your heart? Peter knew all about it. It happened to him. And so he writes that once we had no identity and now we are identified as His children. Once we knew nothing of God’s love, grace or mercy and now we have received them! God changes everything. You can experience His wonder-changing power today. Come to Him in faith and ask Him to change your life. Bring Him your deepest needs. He loves you and will make all things new.

TODAY’S PRAYER
Dear God, I need You! I need a fresh start. I need Your mercy. Please make changes in my life. I come and surrender to You. In Jesus’ name. AMEN

TODAY’S AFFIRMATION & MEDITATION
God is changing my life. Picture yourself coming to God, just as you are. See His compassion toward you. Sense His joy as you surrender to Him and say, “God, make me a new creature!” Feel His Power begin a new work in you. Meditate on His love, mercy and grace and affirm, “God is changing my life!”

DAILY DEVOTIONAL AND PRAYER

Today: Compassion

TODAY’S VERSE
“When He saw the crowds, He had compassion on them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd. Then He said to His disciples, ‘The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the Harvest, therefore, to send out workers into His Harvest field.”’ Matthew 9:36-38 (NIV)

TODAY’S THOUGHT
Everyone has a story. Everyone hurts sometime. If not now, wait ten minutes. It is a hurting world. This is what Jesus saw. He saw the crowds, harassed and helpless. He compared them to lost sheep without a shepherd to protect them. And when He saw them, He had compassion. Why? Because He was God incarnate! God in the flesh. All you have to do, to understand why Jesus reacted the way He did, is to read the Old Testament. God Jehovah had compassion on the poor and needy. Even in Proverbs, Solomon gives us instruction to help those in need. He writes, “Speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves, for the rights of all who are destitute. Speak up and judge fairly; defend the rights of the poor and needy.” We are to defend the rights of the poor and needy. But you ask, “What can I do?” I don’t know. All I can say is that I asked God, “What can I do?” and He has given me more than I can handle. It starts with your willing heart. From your heart it moves to your eyes. Next it moves to your head, then to your hands and feet. If you are willing to be used on behalf of the needy and ask God to help you help others, His love takes over. His compassion will be more than you could ever begin to contain. His miracles on behalf of the needy will be more than you can keep up with. God loves His human race, but He ordained His church to be His hands and feet. When Jesus saw the crowds, he had compassion on them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd. Then He called His disciples for help. He is still calling! What will you do?

TODAY’S PRAYER
Father, where do I begin? There are so many needs, so many hurting and dying. But You have me here, where I am right now, so I ask You to use me today, right here, right now, to make a difference in someone’s life. Help me see with Your eyes, love with Your heart and move with Your Power. In Jesus’ Name. AMEN

TODAY’S AFFIRMATION & MEDITATION
God has called me to make a difference.
Picture Jesus walking through the crowds of people. See them through His eyes. Feel His compassion, His mercy, His resolve to help them. See Him pray for the sick, heal the hurting and those that were spiritually and emotional distraught. Visualize yourself walking with Him and He turns to you and says, “I want you to go and do the same as I am doing.” At first you are full of doubts but then you sense that Jesus has asked you to do it and He will empower you. You look at Him and say, “Yes Lord, I will go and make a difference in Your name.”

DAILY DEVOTIONAL AND PRAYER

Today: Never Forsaken, Never Alone

TODAY’S VERSE
God has said, “Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you.” Hebrews 13:5 (NIV)

TODAY’S MESSAGE
Loneliness; abandonment; alienation; separation; betrayal; desertion. These are words that cut right to the heart. Because of our human relationships, all of us, to one degree or another, have experienced these negative emotions. The great news is that when you become His child, when you are born again, you enter into a permanent relationship with Almighty God. He becomes your loving Father who loves you (yes, you!) so much that He has made a tremendous promise. God has written, for all to read, that He will never, never, never, never, never, never leave you or forsake you. Never! Why? Because when He choose to love you unconditionally, it is settled, end of discussion, no changing His mind, ever. You are His child forever.

TODAY’S PRAYER
Dear Heavenly Father, is it really true? I want to believe it with my mind and with my heart! Help me really see how much You love me. Thank You that You promise You will never leave me or forsake me. Because of Jesus. In Jesus Name. AMEN

TODAY’S AFFIRMATION & MEDITATION
I am His child, I will never be forsaken by God. Quiet your heart and picture yourself before God. Sense His loving presence. Picture God coming to you and calling you His child. Sense His joy and unconditional love toward you. Hear Him say, “I love you, you are My child and I will never forsake you.” Let joy fill your heart and let the reality that you are His child radiate deep into your heart. Say out loud, “I am His child, I will never be forsaken by God.”

DAILY DEVOTIONAL AND PRAYER

Today: Love Is More Than A Four Letter Word

TODAY’S VERSE
“Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails.” I Corinthians 13:4-8 (NIV)

TODAY’S MESSAGE
I read this list of love’s attributes and I feel so inadequate. I am guilty of using the word love so insincerely, not even close to its true meaning. Love is more than a four letter word. I use the same word to describe both my attitude toward a sports team or favorite dessert and my devotion toward my spouse or God. Love is more than saying, “I love you.” More than a romantic feeling, love demands my doing something. It is more walk than talk. It’s the kind of love the world is dying for. Today, I invite you to join me. Let’s read the list of love’s attributes over again and make it our goal today to love those around us in this radical Christ-like manner. With His help, you and I can love the way Christ would have us love.

TODAY’S PRAYER
Lord, loving the way You love is not easy. I cannot do it by myself. I ask You to help me today love those around me with the patience, kindness, sacrifice and dedication that You love me with. Thank You for Your love; help me to love others. In Jesus’ name. AMEN

TODAY’S AFFIRMATION & MEDITATION
I love others with my actions toward them. Read the words that Paul uses to describe love. Read them slowly; ask for Christ’s help. Visualize yourself acting out each of the attributes. Love is Patient – Kind – No envy – No boasting – Not proud – Not rude – Not self seeking – Not easily angered – no record of wrong – not delighting in evil – rejoicing in truth – always protects – always trusts – always hopes – always perseveres.

DAILY DEVOTIONAL AND PRAYER

Today: Be Still Before Him

TODAY’S VERSE
“Be still before the LORD and wait patiently for Him.” Psalms 37:7 (NIV)

TODAY’S THOUGHT
How much time do you spend meditating in the presence of God? That is to stop everything and spend quiet time before Him. This is more difficult than it seems. It does not matter if you have read the Bible for four weeks or four decades, you may know all about God and still not spend much time experiencing Him. Your knowledge may be in your head never making it into your heart. You will never truly know what it means to love God without spending meditative time in His presence. That is like saying you love your spouse and yet you never spend any time together. God is interested in us knowing Him through Scriptures, but He also desires a relationship that only comes through quiet “waiting” in His presence. Today, determine to know Him better. Choose some time where you can spend twenty minutes of solitude with Him. Don’t let another day, week, month or year go by and not treasure God in your heart through time spent still before Him.

TODAY’S PRAYER
Father, I know that one of the purposes You have for me in this life is to know You. Help me carve out the time it takes to be “still” before You. Help me learn to embrace Your presence and enjoy union with You in quiet times together. I ask this in Jesus’ Name. AMEN

TODAY’S AFFIRMATION & MEDITATION
I spend quiet time with God. Practicing the presence of God is crucial to knowing Him. Today just silently sit before Him. You may choose an attribute of God and let it be your focus for your meditation. Today, let us choose love. Quietly whisper, “God is love.” After saying the phrase let your mind think about it. Visualize a time you have experienced His love. Think of His love for you right now. When this dissipates repeat the phrase again, “God is love.” Let it carry you again into meditation. This time thank God for His love and spend time visualizing Him loving you.

DAILY DEVOTIONAL AND PRAYER

Today: Spiritual Wisdom and Understanding

TODAY’S VERSE
“We ask God to give you complete knowledge of His will and to give you spiritual wisdom and understanding.” Colossians 1:9 (NLT)

TODAY’S THOUGHT
How different would our life be if we really sought after and acquired the complete knowledge of God’s will for our life? But would that be enough? How many times have we known God’s will and yet sat helpless to do anything about it? Jesus said to love our enemies. How easy is that? Perhaps that is why Paul also prayed that God would give us spiritual wisdom and understanding. If a complete knowledge of God’s will is the destination, then spiritual wisdom and understanding is the road map. It is how we get there. Today, ask God for His wisdom and understanding regarding His will for your life. He will guide you and direct your path.

TODAY’S PRAYER
Father, I need Your wisdom and understanding regarding Your will for my life. I get easily distracted, confused and discouraged. Fill me with Your Spirit and lead my path today. I pray in Jesus’ name.
AMEN

TODAY’S AFFIRMATION & MEDITATION
God gives me spiritual wisdom and understanding. How much better our lives would be if we spent time discerning God’s will for that day. Today, take a few moments of silence and ask God to speak to your heart about His will for you this day. Wait on Him. Let Him speak to your heart. Wait for His spiritual wisdom and understanding.

DAILY DEVOTIONAL AND PRAYER

Today: Lord, Revive Us

TODAY’S VERSE
“Give us, your servants, great boldness in preaching Your Eord. Stretch out Your hand with healing Power; may miraculous signs and wonders be done through the name of Your Holy Servant Jesus.” Acts 4:29-30 (NIV)

TODAY’S THOUGHT
And we wonder why the early church exploded. Could it be that prayers like the one that Peter prayed made a difference? Listen to the fervor. Listen to the pleading with God that He would show up in powerful magnificent ways. Listen to the commitment and dedication of the early disciples. I believe God wants the same from us today. Programs are good. Books and seminars are very helpful. But what we need is to come to God in the same sense of mission that Peter did. Look at what happened after they prayed with such urgency. “After this prayer, the meeting place shook, and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit. Then they preached the Word of God with boldness. All the believers were united in heart and mind. And they felt that what they owned was not their own, so they shared everything they had. The apostles testified powerfully to the resurrection of the Lord Jesus, and God’s great blessing was upon them all. There were no needy people among them, because those who owned land or houses would sell them and bring the money to the apostles to give to those in need.” When is the church going to become missional? When are we going to see that we are His ambassador called to share Christ’s love with a dying and hurting world? When we do, we will see the same results that Peter and the early church saw.

TODAY’S PRAYER
Father, give me great boldness in sharing Your Word. Stretch out Your Hand with healing Power and may miraculous signs and wonders be done through the name of Your Holy Servant Jesus. In Jesus Name. AMEN

TODAY’S AFFIRMATION & MEDITATION
I pray that God’s miraculous Power will be evident through my life. Spend time today imagining what it would be like to have God work in your own ministry the way He did in Peters. Visualize God performing mighty miracles. Picture people hearing the gospel with receptive hearts and churches overflowing with new excited believers. Sense the Power of God working through the love of His people. Pray that God would make His ]ower evident in your life today.
