What a powerful tribute from Dr. Joel Gregory. As we continue celebrating Twenty Twice + 5, we join him in recognizing and supporting the remarkable and noteworthy Bishop James Dixon II.

His name, his work and his worthiness are honored from coast to coast and border to border. Here at The Community Of Faith Church, we recognize the greatness God has placed among us, and we do not take it for granted.

Bishop D, we are grateful that God gave us a pastor who has faithfully shepherded this house through every season. For 45 years, you have prayed for families, counseled generations, stood with us in moments of celebration and sorrow, carried burdens, covered this congregation and faithfully labored in the Word and doctrine.

We honor not only the Word you have faithfully proclaimed from the pulpit, but also the lives you have touched, the souls you have led and the people you have continually pointed toward Christ. You are indeed worthy of double honor!

“Church honor is not a tip that we leave; it is a debt that we owe.”

Those powerful words from Dr. Joel Gregory set the tone for the beginning of our Twenty Twice + 5 Pastoral Anniversary Season honoring Bishop James Dixon II.

On this First Sunday, we shared in the Lord’s Supper and reflected on the sacrifice of Jesus Christ. Dr. Gregory then preached from Hebrews 12:1–3 in a stirring message entitled, “In the Arena of Faith.”

“Let us run with patience the race that is set before us, looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith.” — Hebrews 12:1–2

We left encouraged to run our individual races with endurance, lay aside everything that hinders us and keep our eyes fixed on Jesus.

As we reflected on Bishop Dixon’s
God-sustained ministry, our Trustees and Deacons honored him by blessing him with the gift of a well-deserved cruise.

It was a beautiful beginning to a month dedicated to recognizing, supporting and celebrating the faithful servant God has given The Community of Faith.

Twenty Twice + 5 is underway, and we are grateful for the journey, the legacy and the celebration ahead! 💚✨
