Our “volunteer of the month” is Steve Godfrey
A devoted Methodist for over 50 years, Steve has served several congregations in varied capacities. He has been very active here at FUMC as a member of the choir which has always been a central feature of his involvement. He looks forward to the revival of our Traditional Choir this September. Steve has just completed our church directory which has been a monumental undertaking and has done an outstanding job. It really looks professional and has been a fantastic use of his photographic skills. These have been employed to our benefit in recording activities such as Volunteers in Mission, general goings on here at FUMC, constructing church calendars and a host of others. Steve has been a leader in the Methodist mission as a member of Trustees, Church Council, Leadership teams, Crisis Aversion and Finance Committees. He works in support of Carol for coordination of Sunday morning’s “Coffee and Treats”. The accomplishments of which he is most proud are the church building projects he has managed and his 30+ years working in support of the U.S. military.
Steve’s family includes his wife of 25 years, Carol. They have 3 boys, and 3 grandchildren. They have a pet cat named “Wittenberg”, affectionately called “Kitten”. Steve’s first job was mowing grass in high school as well as working at the library and mopping floors at a US Air Force photo studio. Photography became a central interest and was involved in all subsequent jobs. In his free time, he enjoys the beach and visiting new places, gardening, and, most importantly, spending time with his sweetheart, Carol. Vacationing is best wherever there is water, sand and Carol. Favorite foods include Mexican cuisine or hamburgers.
Steve is happiest when fellowship and enthusiasm combine at church to accomplish goals. His best work is when under pressure whatever time of day.
Please recognize Steve for the important and valuable contributions he makes to us at FUMC!
