It's time to start thinking about Christmas 4 Kids here at the ARW. Families that are current clients of ours, please stop by and pick up the paperwork to fill out at your next appointment or any time during our normal business hours.

If you are interested in adopting a child or children to help bring some Christmas joy to this year, let us know as soon as possible. I have the adoption paperwork ready to be filled out. You can either stop by or if you let me know where I can send it via email or other means, I will be happy to do so. Thank you for your support!!!

Here are 2 of the bigger items you could possibly win at the Basket Party. The Pittsburgh Steelers donated this autographed Cameron Heyward photo!! From McLanahan Corporation - Agriculture we received this beautiful cast iron dog statue!! We have also received baskets or donations for the party from FINDS Furniture Consignment, Playtime Pottery, Newry Lions Club and St. Mary & St. Michael Hollidaysburg!!! We have also received from a number of individuals as well! Thank you to anyone who has or is planning on donating to our Basket Party!!

Just want to put a notice out there to our clients when coming in for your appointment. DO NOT pull up to the dock doors anymore as you may have done in the past. We have a new set up now, that is more like a grocery store. Just park in the lot, preferably directly in front of the building, and come on in. We will then check you in and take you back to show you how it all works now. Our clients seemed to be loving the new setup we have. It allows them to be more selective in what they receive and not receive things they may not use. So when coming in for your appointment, please just park in front of the building. Thank you and we look forward to this new way of being able to serve our clients!!

The ARW will be holding a Basket Party on October 3rd, 2026 at the Blair Regional YMCA. Tickets will soon be going on sale, so keep your ears open for that. Right now though, we're looking for donations!! Any business, church or individual who would like to donate a basket or part of a basket would greatly help our cause!! If you would like to help out, please reach out to us on messenger or contact our office at 814-695-0762. We are excited about this event but need your help to pull it off!! Thank you for always being there when we need you!!

We had another successful clothing giveaway last month at the Hollidaysburg First United Methodist Church. We will plan on having another one next month on Friday August 14th from 9-3 at the same location. In the meantime, get your donations dropped off at the Mary Fowler Building on Union Avenue. EVERY TUESDAY IS DROPOFF DAY. Someone is usually there at least until noon, usually later. The building has double green doors and faces the prison.

Thank you to everyone who helped with the last giveaway and to the church for allowing us to have it there. That is such a tremendous help!! Hope to see you all next month!!

Just want to put a friendly reminder out there with all this talk about the cyclospora outbreak.

When dealing with fresh produce there are a few simple steps to help keep you safe:

Step 1: Clean your hands and all surfaces you plan to use. This should be a give-in. Make sure your workspace is properly sanitized.

Step 2: Rinse properly under running water.
- Use plain water
- Scrub firm items (using a vegetable brush on carrots, potatoes and cucumbers.)
- Handle greens gently, separate leaves and discard outer layer
- Dry completely

Step 3: Cook thoroughly as heating kills most hidden pathogens. Prevent cross-contamination. Wash your surface before switching between meat and produce.

By following these simple steps, you can help to greatly reduce your risk of contamination!! Stay safe out there!!
