Cedar Ridge Church Harrisonville

Cedar Ridge Church Harrisonville Cedar Ridge Church (EFCA) Harrisonville, MO We are a reformed church. This is often referred to as the Doctrines of Grace.

These teachings were set forth in the Protestant Reformation of the 16th century. Cedar Ridge holds to the confessions of the Reformed faith: The Heidelberg Catechism, Belgic Confession, and the Canons of Dort. We believe these confessions faithfully interpret the fundamental teachings of the Bible, and serve to aid and guide us in our faith so that we may more fully know what we believe. They are

not equal to the scriptures, however, they are an excellent summary of what we believe the scriptures teach on such important doctrines as creation and redemption, Jesus Christ and sinners, justification and sanctification. It is not the sum total of what we believe, but rather the foundation.

7:30 p.m. This special service, called Tenebrae, is celebrated on Thursday, the eve of Good Friday, and is a time of remembrance and reflection; a time of thankful sorrow, as we recall the suffering and death of our Savior. "Tenebrae", which means "Service of Shadows", commemorates the events leading up to and including Christ's crucifixion. We will partake of the Lord's Supper, after which the Service of Shadows proceeds with readings of the events ofthe crucifixion, congregational readings and musical responses. The darkness grows, as we read passages depicting Christ's suffering for us, and His light is extinguished, concluding the service. This service is a beautiful preparation for the celebration of the Resurrection, on the following Sunday.
