Genesis 3:1-13, The Fall

-Doubt, we must clearly state exactly what The Lord God has said. We must know God's Word and hide it in our heart and knowing when God's word is almost right and when it is right!

-Deception, puts your will above God's will. Makes you doubt your belief and God's goodness.

-Disobedience, pursues your own will, what we do not have, instead of the will of God, what He provides.

Every time we sin, we put ourselves on the throne.

-Death, the guilt and shame, taking matters into your own hands. Damages our relationship with not only God but our person-to-person relationship. This leads to a spiritual death.

But God pursues those who has turned against Him. And we can see God's true authority, grace, love and salvation thru His son our Lord Jesus Christ. Thru Christ we live.

Applications of Genesis 1-2

New technology with IVF
-Mental Health crisis and the missing component. There is right and there is wrong. God determines what is right and wrong. We have a body and a soul, created by God and in His image. We need to repent and put our faith in Jesus Christ. What is happening in our heart!
-IVF and embryo genetic selection. Without God man can do the selection or thrown away. What does scripture (God) say about life.
Psalm 139:13, 16. Before you were formed God knew you!
Genesis 1:27 God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him, male and female he created them.

Genesis 2:18-25, God is the Creator of the Universe
We are the crowning jewel of God’s creation.
God is in control – He is sovereign.
Not good for Adam to be alone. God created Eve.
Proverbs 18:22 – He who finds a wife finds what is good and receives favor from the Lord.
Marriage and family, the foundation of society.
Marriage between anything else is a perversion of God’s design
Marriage from God’s own hand
We are not rejecting some manmade rule, we are rejecting the rule of our own creator
God was securing God’s blessing. Live under God’s rules.
Marriage is God’s good design
Psalms 1:1 – Blessed is the man who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked or stand in the way of sinners or sit in the seat of mockers.
2. God’s wisdom in how he brought Eve to him.
The process in how God brought Eve to Adam
3.God’s wisdom in Power in the creation of Eve
God alone is the one we should look to for wisdom
He alone is God – He alone is sovereign
Become one flesh
God brings her to Adam
Woman belongs to God he is in trusting Man, by God to be loved
4. Adam’s response
This is at last
God brought you together with the perfect companion
There should be joy, the cure for loneliness
Genesis 2:24 is for all generations
Leave – Leave his father and mother. To loosen or let go - to release.
Hold fast - married to one for life.
One Flesh – the closes companion – think of a couple as a unit
Not ashamed – completely exposed, complete transparency, complete acceptance
God’s design is also a picture of the Gospel – Jesus sacrificed Himself for His bride the Church

Genesis 2:15-17, God gave Adam a Prohibition
Does God expect you/me to obey Him? YES!
You may not surely eat of the tree of Good and Evil.
If you eat of the tree of Good and Evil, you shall Die!
A. Command – Do not eat of the tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil
a. God created it and it is good; the fruit is good.
B. Consequence – If you eat of the tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil you shall surely die
a. We die physically because of Adam’s sin, all Die.
b. More than physical death. Spiritual death, much more serious. The broken relationship/fellowship with God.
i. Praise God, because of Christ that is no longer true.
Established that God is God and we are not.
Need to trust that God is good and wise. We often doubt God.
God created ever tree in the Garden. The three categories of trees.
• Every tree that is good for food and pleasant to the sight
• Tree of life (Provides unending physical life, (not atoning, can’t remove sin)
• Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil
Will we be faithful to God every day? Will we trust that God is Good and Wise?
Our lives belong to the one that made us.
