It’s been a joyous weekend celebrating all of our graduates at Muhlenberg and the entire Class of 2026! Enjoy these moments from our blessing of graduates, commencement ceremonies, and the making of our gifts for the Grads. They received a custom prayer labyrinth to take with them wherever the pilgrimage of life leads this next. The following explains part of their significance, and is taken from our blessing in worship today:
“The wood is from one of the old pews of Muhlenberg Lutheran Church. People prayed on this wood. People sang on it, leaned on it, fell asleep on it during long sermons, held their children on it, cried on it, came forward from it to be fed at the table. It has been part of this congregation’s worship for longer than most of us have been alive. We wanted you to have a piece of it, because you are a piece of us. By your love and presence, you have left your mark on this community, and we wanted to send a piece of this community with you into your bright future.
Remember that wherever you go, you have a home here in the Shenandoah Valley, and a family who is praying you onward.
We send you with this prayer, which has gone with many pilgrims before you:
O God, you have called your servants to ventures of which we cannot see the ending, by paths as yet untrodden, through perils unknown. Give Linlin, Jen, Kaylie, Connor, and Haley faith to go out with good courage, not knowing where they go, but only that your hand is leading them and your love supporting them; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
Go in peace. Serve the Lord. And come back and see us.”
