It’s been a joyous weekend celebrating all of our graduates at Muhlenberg and the entire Class of 2026! Enjoy these moments from our blessing of graduates, commencement ceremonies, and the making of our gifts for the Grads. They received a custom prayer labyrinth to take with them wherever the pilgrimage of life leads this next. The following explains part of their significance, and is taken from our blessing in worship today:
“The wood is from one of the old pews of Muhlenberg Lutheran Church. People prayed on this wood. People sang on it, leaned on it, fell asleep on it during long sermons, held their children on it, cried on it, came forward from it to be fed at the table. It has been part of this congregation’s worship for longer than most of us have been alive. We wanted you to have a piece of it, because you are a piece of us. By your love and presence, you have left your mark on this community, and we wanted to send a piece of this community with you into your bright future.

Remember that wherever you go, you have a home here in the Shenandoah Valley, and a family who is praying you onward.

We send you with this prayer, which has gone with many pilgrims before you:
O God, you have called your servants to ventures of which we cannot see the ending, by paths as yet untrodden, through perils unknown. Give Linlin, Jen, Kaylie, Connor, and Haley faith to go out with good courage, not knowing where they go, but only that your hand is leading them and your love supporting them; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Go in peace. Serve the Lord. And come back and see us.”

Last, but certainly not least, our shines on our president, our Peer Minister, the dancing queen herself: Haley Tabor! 💃🏼💜🌟

Haley will graduate with honors Friday from James Madison University with a Bachelor of Arts in Dance. Haley plans to student teach in Harrisonburg and Fairfax, Virginia next fall to earn her Virginia K-12 Teaching License, before starting her audition season for dance companies in the spring.

Pastor Alex said this about our fearless leader, “There may not be enough room here to describe the profound impact that Haley Tabor has had on Lutheran Campus Ministry, and the Muhlenberg community. Haley has made a lasting mark on Muhlenberg—teaching Sunday School, leading youth ministry, forming meaningful relationships with Muhlenberg youth and adults, and setting LCM up for success in the future. Haley helped guide the process of LCM reconstituting and becoming reorganized as a JMU Student Group, and served faithfully as a Peer Minister with our community before there was even a structure to define her role. Haley is a tremendously gifted dancer and choreographer, and sees her art as a way to welcome and uplift others! She’s shared dance with peers, children, and even those with Parkinson’s who need outlets to move. Dance builds community, and that is an extension of the many gifts God has given Haley for community-building. Haley has faithfully cared for members of our LCM community through prayer and support, and been a tremendous partner to me in the joyful work of leading this group. Haley’s presence will be profoundly missed among our community, but her leadership, thoughtfulness, and care will be felt by LCM students for many years to come!“

Today’s falls on an energetic educator and all around incredible human, Kaylie Berghaus! ✏️🖍️💜
Kaylie will graduate with honors Saturday from James Madison University with a Bachelor of Science in Inclusive Early Childhood Education. Kaylie plans to teach first or second grade in a district in Northern Virginia, and during summer will be working as a paraprofessional for summer school in her hometown and as a farm summer camp counselor.
Pastor Alex said, “When I was first introduced to Kaylie, and was told that she was an Inclusive Early Childhood Education Major, I was entirely unsurprised! Kaylie is one whose vocation and personality are aligned perfectly—she radiates kindness, warmth, and welcome, allowing children and peers alike to gravitate toward her loving demeanor! God has given her all the tools she needs to continue to transform lives and build a brighter future for all, one child at a time. LCM has been so blessed by her presence!”

In today's , we celebrate the Euphonium master herself, Jennifer Carden! 🎶💜

Jennifer Carden will graduate on Friday from James Madison University with a Master of Music degree with a concentration in Performance. In the fall, Jen will be attending Michigan State University to pursue her Doctor of Musical Arts in Performance.

Thinking about Jen, Pastor Alex shares, "With my own love of music and experience with incredible musicians at JMU, it’s no small thing to say I place Jen in a very high echelon of one of the most talented musicians I’ve encountered at the JMU School of Music. She is incredibly devoted to her art—driven, dedicated, and willing to outwork anyone in the practice room! But even greater than her devotion to music is the warmth and depth of character Jen brings to her community. The vocational pursuit of harmony transcends the stage for her. God has blessed her with tremendous musical gifts and with thoughtfulness and faithfulness that has blessed our LCM and Muhlenberg community profoundly. We are so excited to see and hear the bright future that will unfold for her at Michigan State!"
