There was so much to celebrate and lift up at Muhlenberg today! First, we were thrilled to hear the wonderful sounds of the combined choir in both services. Then, the Gathering Area was bustling between services as Karen Thomsen conducted a service project (assembling summer fun packs for Bridge of Hope families) and Keira Miller helped run a fun cupcake table celebrating our graduating high school seniors and the retirement of Krisztina Szekely! Krisztina is retiring as Executive Director of Second Home after 11 years in that role. And, our graduating seniors honored today are:
~ Abby Gibson, graduating from Harrisonburg High School and planning to attend Loyola Marymount University
~ Kat Kolodinsky, graduating from East Rockingham High School and planning to attend James Madison University
~ Keira Miller, graduating from Harrisonburg High School and taking a gap year to gain experience as a Teacher’s Assistant in a Special Education classroom
~ Ryan Moyers, graduating from Turner Ashby High School and planning to attend James Madison University
~ Billy Perritt, graduating from Harrisonburg High School and planning to attend James Madison University
Congratulations to Krisztina and all of our graduating seniors!

“Fired Up! Forever!” - Sermon for 5/26/2026
Before he was a pastor, Pastor Alex was a pep band hype-man. This Pentecost Sunday, he fell back into some old habits from the pulpit with his sermon on Acts 2 and John 14. But, the good news of Pentecost is that the hype doesn't depend on any one person. The Holy Spirit — the Advocate, the Helper, the one forever walking beside you — is doing the real work of inspiring, enlivening, and igniting the church FOREVER. So... Are you fired up?

Today at Muhlenberg was special in so many ways! First, we marked Pentecost Sunday by showing up in our best red. And second, we were honored to celebrate with the families of Latham Copeland, Ana Eanes and John Wilson as they affirmed their baptisms through the Rite of Confirmation! We are so proud of these remarkable young people, as they carried themselves so beautifully today and read their amazing faith statements to a spellbound crowd. Congratulations, Latham, Ana, and John!!

“What Matters” - Sermon for 5/10/2026
In his sermon on Philippians 3:4–4:1, Pastor Alex began by comparing resumes with Paul, but they both faithfully acknowledged that their resumes were “rubbish”. This reading reminds us what matters, and while it can be easy to lose sight of what matters and chase the wrong things, Christ is calling us back time and time to our identity that is rooted in him. Our shared life—the community formed in sharing our material, spiritual, and relational gifts—reveals Christ and recenters our lives around what really matters. How can you invest in the Kingdom of God this week, and make sure we’re putting first things first?

Today in worship, Kara Zimmerman, Church Engagement and Development Director from Bridge of Hope, delivered an inspiring Mission Moment. Bridge of Hope is a local agency that provides rental assistance for permanent housing, as well as case management services to help families facing homelessness find long-term financial and housing stability. Muhlenberg is proud to partner with Bridge of Hope, and we thank Kara and her wonderful organization for the amazing work they do in our community! Find out more at hr.bridgeofhopeinc.org.
