If you've ever tried move something that's too heavy, you've felt the limits of your strength. That's fine, unless you really need to move that thing. A blocked exit in a fire or a car pinning a loved one after an accident, for example. In those moments you scream for help and pray they come quickly. God was with us in the beginning, but we lost sight of that. He's with you now if you just turn around and realize it. The path ahead may require some heavy lifting, don't be afraid to go. The power that conquered sin and death is with you.

Many workplaces have rules and policy that are expected to be obeyed. It all sounds like boring overprotection, until it isn't. A mistake in procedure or production can result in disaster. Airplanes falling from the sky, bridges collapsing or nuclear meltdowns all tie back to breaches of the rules. We can live our lives as if there are no rules, sure, but rules and their consequences exist all the same. Christ gave rules to follow, not because He's distant, but because He defeats disaster and you are only safe in Him.

If I am confused about my identity and purpose, I might think I'm something I'm not, and do some very strange things. This ultimate confusion is a mental disorder called delusion: believing things about myself that are not true. This gets preposterous if we imagine the unimaginable in the world of business: imagine Costco trying to run its stores like McDonalds. The same problem of identity and purpose shows up in the church. When we get off center, we start to wobble and risk falling off the track. As Christians, we find our mission and purpose in Christ who goes to make disciples of all nations. Once we have been impacted by the potential, the only option left is to go.

The lowliest among us deserves respect. But that's a very different thing from putting your life in the hands of a random person. If you're fighting for your life you want to know that anyone calling the shots is worthy of respect. Be it a doctor, a general, an engineer or captain; you want to know if they're experienced, competent and successful. Jesus is all that and more. His resume is exemplory and, in fact, He's the only one qualified for the job of putting your life together. So if He asks you to join Him on His mission to save the world, respect Him.
