For many things in life you need permission to move forward. Permits, licenses, certifications...a note from your mother, for example. These things recognize the authority of the grantor to hold a standard. But higher authorities exist. Whatever the ultimate government of the land is, can come in and supercede a permit office. God allows some human choice, but reserves the right to overule. When the power of humanity's "regulators" runs counter to His will, we're faced with who's permit really counts. That of God or man?

We live in a broken world with shattered people, many of who don't know they're shattered. Yet, they claim to be put together and confidently pronounce their condition to be the new normal. No one is broken, just misunderstood. How cruel do you have to be to not only believe this, but to spread the lie? Sure, we're shattered, but that's not the end. Christ came to pick up the broken pieces, put them together and infuse it with life. All we have to do is let Him. But that means accepting you're broken in the first place. And that there is whole you to be restored to.

Christ gave us a mission that's simple, "Go, make disciples, baptize, and teach." The things that are downstream of that command are placed under the guidance of the Holy Spirit. Each of us are directed to a key part of the whole. Come to church today and learn about a how God guided Duncan and Suzanne Forbes to run a mission to US service people in Japan. They are a unique example of the Great Commission in action.

Your car has a battery with power in it. Wonderful, that's just great... So, when is it going to do something? Until the key is turned in the ingnition that power does nothing but keep a clock running. The power in that battery is meant to set off a chain of events that results in movement. Followers of Christ are meant to move, but not in their own strength. God's power through the Holy Spirit is the power to ignite life change, freedom from fear, your witness and your love. Turn it on!

Whether we know it or not, everyone appreciates things that are well designed. From buildings to cars, from paintings by the old masters to the homepage of your favorite website, we respond to the design. But, someone, somewhere had to make those design decisions for it to be "good." The design of the Church is good, no matter how much individuals mess it up (I'm not talking about church organizations). Christ set it's foundation, He set it in motion and He has been with the Church all along. To the degree that we trust His design, we see the good of the Body of Christ.
