Last month, we gathered around the table.

Pastors from different churches shared a meal, caught up with old friends, met new ones, and made space for the kind of relationships that don’t happen when we stay behind our own church walls.

That’s what we mean when we talk about “setting the table” for local church unity in the Upstate.

Unity grows through friendship. Through conversation. Through choosing to know and encourage one another. Through making room for the people God has placed in our region.

Next Wednesday, we’re setting the table again.

As summer gives way to fall, many of us are stepping into new rhythms.

Students begin another school year.

Teachers prepare their classrooms.

Families settle into new routines.

Church ministries launch new seasons.

Work calendars fill up.

Every season brings new opportunities—and new decisions.

The good news is that we don't have to navigate any of it alone.

James gives us this promise:

"If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you." (James 1:5)

What a gift.

Before we rely on our plans, our experience, or our own understanding, we can begin with prayer.

This week, let's ask God for wisdom.

Wisdom to love well.

Wisdom to lead faithfully.

Wisdom to make decisions that honor Him.

Wisdom to recognize where He's already at work and join Him there.

Whatever this new season holds, may our first response be to seek the One who gives wisdom generously.

As backpacks are packed and classrooms begin to fill, let’s remember one of the most meaningful things we can do for our schools:

Pray.

Every student who walks through those doors carries a story.

Every teacher has the opportunity to shape lives.

Every administrator, counselor, custodian, coach, and staff member plays a vital role in helping students flourish.

This school year, let’s commit to covering our schools in prayer.

Pray for wisdom.

Pray for protection.

Pray for meaningful learning.

Pray for health and endurance.

Pray for strong families, supportive friendships, and campuses marked by peace.

We believe God cares deeply about our schools, and we believe prayer makes a difference.

As a new school year begins, let's come together to pray over the students, teachers, administrators, faculty, and staff who will fill our schools this fall.

On Saturday, August 8 at 9:00 AM, believers from across our community will gather at school flagpoles throughout Greer to ask God's blessing, protection, wisdom, and peace over each campus.

Whether you're a parent, grandparent, educator, student, church leader, or simply someone who wants to pray for the next generation, you're invited.

Meet at one of these locations at 9:00 AM:
• Greer High School – 3000 East Gap Creek Rd.
• Greer Middle School – 3032 East Gap Creek Rd.
• Riverside High School – 794 Hammett Bridge Rd.
• Riverside Middle School – 615 Hammett Bridge Rd.
• Crestview Elementary – 509 American Legion Rd.

Last week, we stood shoulder to shoulder in prayer with believers from churches across our region.

Next week, we'll gather around tables.

Church unity isn't built only in moments of corporate prayer & worship. It's also cultivated through simple conversations, shared meals, and genuine friendships.

Our monthly Pastor Lunch exists to create space for local pastors to know one another beyond ministry titles and church walls. We believe healthy relationships among church leaders strengthen the entire Body of Christ.

Whether you're a Lead Pastor, Associate Pastor, Worship Pastor, Student Pastor, or serve in another pastoral role, we'd love to have you join us.
