If you know any parents of high school students looking at Faith Formation, please share this with them :)

I wanted to show the larger Quad-Parish community a hint of what high schoolers this year will be learning. Using apologetics, Greek and Hebrew grammar analysis, early historical texts, various sciences, pre-medieval Patristics, and multiple schools of philosophy, our focus this year is on the Church and sacraments...Joseph style!

I didn't make this one too heavy (don't want to scare students away just yet), so it shouldn't hurt anyone's brain. The goal for this presentation is to simply analyze the text of Matthew 16:18-19 in a Scholastic fashion. Enjoy!

From a prayer shared at a ministry meeting today. Take time to reflect on these timely words:

Lord, I thank You, yet again, for allowing us to gather together in Your holy Name. Pope St. Gregory the Great, commenting on today's reading, wrote that the commandments to love Our Lord and love our brothers and sisters were given to us so that You, "in the soil of our breast, ... might first fix the root of [Your] love, so that afterwards in the branches the love of our brethren should shoot forth."

We pray, O Sovereign Lord, that all of us in our ministries may inspire great love and great faith in young minds, a faith not unlike that of two young names in today's Martyrology, the brothers Pergentinus and Laurentinus.

I lastly pray that our minds might remain open to new forms of evangelizing and catechising. Clement of Alexandria explained that our faith is an accessible one. He explained: "It is said, 'I have not learned [to read]'; but if you have not learned to read, you cannot excuse yourself in the case of hearing, for it is not taught. And faith is the possession not of the wise according to the world, but of those according to God; and it is taught without letters; and its handbook ... is called love–a spiritual book."

Help us to learn from the spiritual book of love. We ask this all, along with the souls of the Rwandan martyrs remembered today, through Christ our Lord.

Are you a young adult who wants to know more about how to defend the faith? Whether you're new to Christianity or you're a master exegete, join our very own Joseph Walkowski as he gives a talk this Thursday about the vast world of apologetics.

He'll cover the history of Greek apologia, discuss the various philosophies that go into defending faith, how to approach people from any background when discussing our beliefs, then offer advice for people who are looking to begin (or further master) biblical-, philosophical-, scientific-, historical-, and Didactic-based apologetics. A short Q&A will follow!

This event will take place at St. Pius X Church, 500 W Marquette St, Appleton, WI 54911, beginning at 7:00 PM.
