Welcome to our table! We are very excited to officially announce this project.

Soup 'N Salad for the Soul is the outcome of the passion, love, and dedication of 5 Ebony Road Players’ Visionary Academy graduates and is being produced in partnership with Ebony Road Players.

The story takes place in a cafe where they have a meal voucher program for the homeless. It focuses on the stories of three individuals experiencing homelessness and their struggle to escape it. Cassie, a 15 year old girl. Mr. Bennett, an Older man. Jazzmine, a single mom. People aren't always what they appear on the outside, we all have stories and talents.

We are currently casting only for the following four roles

Dante:

Age- Appears 20-25

Ethnicity- Black preferred, BIPOC Required

Role Size- Large

Singing Role

This character is q***r and masc presenting. In addition to his story as a character this role is also the Emcee of sorts. He must be flamboyant with an engaging earnestness to grab the audience's attention. He works at the restaurant to pay the bills and is working toward being a performer himself. However, his work also fills his heart as he has a genuine and unique relationship with all of the regular patrons. He also has his own story of homelessness after being kicked out as an older teen for coming out as gay.

Cassie:

Age- Appears 15

Ethnicity- Black

Role Size- Large

Singing Role

She ran away and was basically raising her younger brothers while her mother, in the throes of addiction, abused her and neglected the household. She's somewhat reserved and sarcastic but, when she's with someone who listens, opens up wide and has a beautiful heart. She's also a talented artist.

Jazzmine:

Age- Appears 25-35

Ethnicity- Black

Role Size- Medium

Singing Role

A single Mother struggling to get her children back. She has to prove she is financially stable, so she strips to make easy money. She really dreams of being a singer and has since she was a little girl.

Linda:

Age- Appears 30+

Ethnicity- White

Role Size- Small

Planted in the audience

She has no sympathy for those in poverty. Despite her marriage to Michael, she still finds it within herself to be the Queen of Microaggressions.

Michael:

Age- Appears 30+

Ethnicity- Black

Role Size- Small

Planted in the audience

A smooth and snoody business executive. He carries alot of internalized racism and always bends to his wife Linda's will.
