Last day for our OSLC travelers today. They had a free day in Prague. These are the only pictures I received today. Some of the group went to an opera this evening. The group leaves Prague bright and early tomorrow morning and will arrive home on 4 different flights. (I’m including Chuck and Frank who will fly home to San Diego. I believe Joan will fly back to NY???). Anyway, please pray for all of our travelers to have a safe and smooth trip home!

Astronomical Clock in Prague (Video. Put your sound on)

The Prague Astronomical Clock was first installed in 1410. This makes it the world's third-oldest astronomical clock and the oldest still in operation today.

The lower calendar dial was added in around 1490. Around the same time, the incredible Gothic statues were also added.

At some time in the late 1600s, probably between 1629 and 1659, the wooden statues were installed. The Apostle statues were added during a major refit between 1787 and 1791.

The clock tower's iconic golden crowing rooster was added around 1865.

Tuesday, June 9th. A rainy day in Prague. The group toured the Old Town and Wenceslas Square. Then they visited the Prague Castle Complex, which has been a major political, cultural, and economic center in Central Europe. It served as the capital of the Kingdom of Bohemia and was the residence of several Holy Roman Emperors, including Charles IV and Rudolf II. The castle complex encompasses a group of palaces, cathedrals, and residences, including St. Vitus Cathedral, the Old Royal Palace, and St. George's Basilica. After lunch, the group tour continued at Charles Bridge, one of the oldest and most iconic landmarks in Europe, and a symbol of Prague's rich history. The medieval stone bridge dates back to 1357 and is well known for the 30statues that line the bridge, as well as its panoramic views of the Vltava River and the city. A short walk from the bridge is the famous Old Town Square, dating back to the 10th century, and the old Jewish Quarter with the oldest active synagogue in Europe. After a group dinner at their hotel, the tour group went to a classical concert in the Spanish Synagogue. The Moorish Revival-style building was constructed in 1868 and stands on the site of the oldest synagogue in the Jewish quarter. It’s
well known for its ornate interior featuring ornamental stucco arabesques, polychrome decoration, gilding, and stained glass.

The OSLC tour group checked out of their hotel in Berlin this morning and boarded a bus to Dresden, Germany. They then went on a city sightseeing tour, ate lunch and, boarded their bus for Prague, Czech Republic. They took a river cruise in Prague on the Vltava River, which is the longest river on the Czech Republic. They were able to admire the scenery and many of the top sights including Prague Castle, Kampa Island, and Charles Bridge. After their river cruise, they checked into the Esplanade Hotel Prague and had a group dinner at their hotel.
