Saint Andrew Orthodox Mission Church Welcome to the official page of Saint Andrew’s Malankara Orthodox Church of Long Island, NY. St. We are also a family-oriented, child friendly parish.

Saint Andrew Malankara Orthodox Mission is a Christian congregation of the Northeast American Diocese of the Malankara Orthodox Syrian Church. Andrew's Church (located in Port Washington, New York) strives to share the Orthodox Christian message of our Lord Jesus Christ that He taught, the Apostles preached, and the fathers kept during the two-thousand year history of the Church. With all of the services being in English, our parish church is open and welcoming to all and includes services for families, youth and all those who wish to discover the Malankara Orthodox Church to ultimately become members of the church. His Eminence will celebrate the Holy Qurbana and bless our parish community with his esteemed presence.

At , we want every family to know: Your children are always welcome!

If your baby cries, come to church.

If your toddler cannot sit still, come to church.

If getting everyone ready makes you late, come to church.

If your child asks questions, makes noise, or needs another bathroom break, come to church.

If your child has special needs, come to church.

If you spend most of Holy Qurbana caring for your children rather than listening to the homily, please come to church!

Children do not learn to worship by staying home until they can sit quietly. They learn by being present.

☦️ They learn to pray by hearing us pray.

☦️ They learn reverence by watching us worship.

☦️ They encounter Christ through the Holy Mysteries.

☦️ They learn that the Church is their home because we make room for them.

The whispers, wiggles, and cries are not distractions. They are signs of a living Church!

Through Holy Baptism, our children become members of the Body of Christ. They belong here, surrounded by the love, patience, and encouragement of their parish family.

Children are not simply the future of the Orthodox Church. They are the Church TODAY!

You’re divorced and the last church you attended condemned you for it; all you are seeking is a community for your salvific journey….You can sit me, you’re right where you need to be.

You’ve had an abortion and it’s slowly eating away at your heart but you came to church on Sunday to experience His healing presence….You can sit with me, you’re right where you need to be.

You’re single and have been harassed by everyone in your community about your status. All you want to do is just go to church and pray….You can sit with me, you’re right where you need to be.

You've been married for a few years and are struggling to have children. It’s tough, and it doesn’t help that everyone keeps asking if you have any ‘good news.’ You both are overwhelmed and just want to worship in peace without so many questions….You can sit with me, you’re right where you need to be.

Our parish was honored for our Achen, to offer the Invocation and Benediction at the 25th Anniversary September 11 Memorial Ceremony, hosted by New York State Senator Jack Martins.

The solemn gathering brought together members of our community to remember the lives lost on September 11, 2001, honor the courage and sacrifice of our first responders, and pray for their families and our nation, especially those who died from Long Island.

Among the civic leaders present were Town of Oyster Bay Supervisor Joseph Saladino and New York State Assemblyman Jake Blumencranz, together with first responders, community leaders, families, and neighbors.

For St. Andrew’s Malankara Orthodox Church, our Achen’s participation reflects the broader mission of our parish in being a visible and active presence beyond the walls of our church. Through charitable outreach, service to those in need, partnerships with local organizations, and participation in civic and community life, we seek to share the love of Christ and faithfully serve our neighbors throughout Long Island.

We are grateful to Senator Jack Martins for bringing the community together for this meaningful observance and for giving our parish the opportunity to join our neighbors in remembrance and prayer.

📚✝️ Sunday School is Back at St. Andrew’s!

This past Sunday, we joyfully kicked off a new Sunday School year! Our children gathered for a wonderful day of faith, fellowship, learning, and service.

As part of our opening day, our students participated in a special service project, reminding us that Christian education is not only about learning our faith—it is about living our faith through love and service to others. ❤️

We pray that this new year will help each of our children grow closer to Christ, deepen their Orthodox faith, build lasting friendships, and discover the joy of serving others.
