Sea Cliff Gospel Chapel

Sea Cliff Gospel Chapel A gathering of believers who love their Lord, Jesus & each other. We are not perfect, but we are forgiven and seeking to grow closer to the one we love, Jesus.

At the Chapel, we are a group of believers who seek to follow the Word of God in our lives day by day. We see the early church caring for each other in the book of Acts and we try to do likewise, bearing one another’s burdens. Jesus said, “by this shall all men know that you are my disciples, that you have love for one another.” We seek to put that into practice. If you have any questions about ho

w or why we do things, please feel free to ask any of us. If you don’t have complete assurance that if you were to die today, you would be going to heaven, we would love to share with you from God’s Word, how you can KNOW that you have eternal life and will be going to heaven.

CELEBRATING CHRISTMAS = CELEBRATING THE INCARNATION OF JESUS
“By this the love of God was manifested in us, that God has sent His only begotten Son into the world so that we might live through Him. In this is love, not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son to be the propitiation for our sins.” 1 John 4:9-10
As we celebrate Christmas, we are surrounded by a secularization of the holiday. It has come to be about decorations and gifts and family get togethers. The ‘Spirit of Christmas’ is about romantic relationships. We forget that it is actually ALL about God, ALL about His Love, ALL about Jesus! Everything else is meaningless, if you leave that out of your celebration.
Most of the symbols and decorations surrounding us started as reminders of Christ’s birth and God’s gift to us of Life. Lights, wreaths, evergreens, stars, bells, angels, candy canes, nativity scenes, carols, poinsettias, even Santa! But we have forgotten the why behind each of these items that point to eternal life, the light of the world, God’s intervention for us. Santa’s red & white outfit points to the blood Jesus shed on the cross for you and me, and the purity we now have because he removed the contamination of our sin so that God sees us as holy and pure.
“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things came into being through Him, and apart from Him nothing came into being that has come into being. In Him was life, and the life was the Light of men. The Light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not comprehend it. … But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, even to those who believe in His name, who were born, not of blood nor of the will of the flesh nor of the will of man, but of God. And the Word became flesh, and dwelt among us, and we saw His glory, glory as of the only begotten from the Father, full of grace and truth.” John 1:1-14
My life was transformed when I grasped the concept that God, who created me and this world, loved me so much that He entered into it and sacrificed Himself so that I could have a relationship with Him for all eternity! “But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.” Romans 5:8
Come back to the real reason for celebrating this Christmas, the Love God has for YOU!

Sea Cliff Gospel Chapel Resurrection Celebration 2025

Throughout our life our priorities and standards shift. Our goals change. The thing that is most important to us changes. As a child maybe it was to be picked for the team, as a teen, what am I going to do in my life? College? Career? As a young adult, whom am I going to spend my life with? As a parent, for our kids to grow up safe, as a senior, will I be able to retire? How will I survive? WHAT IS MOST IMPORTANT TO YOU? One of these, or another choice? The Apostle Paul says the most important thing in our lives is:

"For what I received I passed on to you as of first importance: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures that He was buried, that He was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures, and that He appeared to Peter, and then to the Twelve. After that, He appeared to more than five hundred of the brothers at the same time, most of whom are still living, though some have fallen asleep. Then He appeared to James, then to all the apostles and last of all He appeared to me also, as to one abnormally born." 1 Corinthians15:3-7

What is most important to you? The Apostle Paul wrote that it was something that impacts you for all eternity: Jesus’ loving sacrifice, as seen in His death, burial and resurrection. Today that seems out of place, but let's look at why it is so important to each and every one of us.

Without Jesus’ death, I would have no hope. I know that I am not perfect. God’s Justice requires us to be perfect, without sin, and yet "all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God," Romans 3:23. If we get what we deserve - it will be death, judgment and consignment to hell. That's pretty important!

Without Jesus’ burial, we would not have confirmation of His death and the cleansing of His blood. "God presented Him as a sacrifice of atonement, through faith in His blood." Romans 3:25. The opportunity to be saved by faith is dependant upon this!

Without Jesus’ resurrection, we would be dead in our sins. God demonstrated to us His acceptance of the sacrifice that Jesus made on our behalf. Hallelujah! We can KNOW that we are forgiven and accepted by God because He raised His Son Jesus from death!

In the midst of the unfairness of life, Job said, “I know that my Redeemer lives…” Job 19:25. It is not about surviving, being safe or successful. It is about TRUSTING God, that no matter how bad life gets, it is worthwhile because HE is in our lives now and for eternity future. May you be blessed with an awareness of God’s Grace made available to you through Jesus’ death, burial & resurrection this Easter.

With God’s love, David Collins
