Congratulations to the Ascension Lutheran School Class of 2026!

Last evening we celebrate an incredible group of graduating 8th graders who have grown into fine young men and women and truly embody our school's Portraits of a Graduate.

Throughout their time at Ascension, they have pursued excellence both inside and outside the classroom — participating in sports, drama, and music while earning many academic achievements along the way. More importantly, they have shown themselves to be bold confessors and defenders of their faith, reflecting Christ in the way they lead, serve, and support others.

As they step into this next chapter, we are reminded of their class verse, Psalm 121:7–8:
"The Lord will keep you from all evil—He will keep your life; The Lord will keep your going out and your coming in from this time forth and forevermore."

We pray these words remain with them wherever God leads them. We are proud of the people they have become and grateful to have been part of their journey. May God continue to guide their steps, strengthen their faith, and bless them abundantly.

We wish each of you the very best in all that lies ahead!

Our 5th-8th grade students had a wonderful time on this week’s class trip to the National Museum of the U.S. Air Force, the Creation Museum, and the Ark Encounter! From exploring historic aircraft and learning about aviation history to experiencing interactive exhibits that brought biblical history to life, the trip was filled with memorable learning opportunities and fun experiences together.

At the Creation Museum, students explored immersive exhibits that pointed to the truth of God’s Word from the very beginning of Scripture. Highlights included walking through life-sized models of the Garden of Eden, enjoying a planetarium show, and viewing beautifully detailed displays that helped answer important questions about creation and the Bible.

Students were also amazed by the Ark Encounter, home to the world’s largest freestanding timber-frame structure. As they explored the three massive decks of exhibits, they learned about what life aboard Noah’s ark may have been like, flood geology, the Ice Age, and much more. They even had a surprise meeting with Ken Ham!

A huge thank you to Mrs. Behnfeldt and Mrs. Gier for the many hours of planning and organizing that made this trip possible. We are also so grateful to all of our wonderful chaperones for giving their time, energy, and support to help make this experience such a success for our students!

Our 7th & 8th graders brought history to life at our WW2 Museum Gallery! 🇺🇸

Each student dove deep into a unique topic—from D-Day and the Miracle at Dunkirk to Allied and Axis leaders, the Manhattan Project, Navajo Code Talkers, and more. After completing research papers, they transformed their learning into eye-catching, informative displays and creative models for our gallery walk.

The atmosphere was truly immersive, with music from the 1940s filling the air and guests sampling recipes from the era—including “ration cake” made without eggs, butter, or sugar! Students had the opportunity to share their knowledge not only with fellow classmates, but also with families and members of our congregation who came out to support them.

We are proud of the hard work, creativity, and dedication these students showed in bringing this important period of history to life. Job well done!

What a whale of a tale! 🐋

A huge thank you to everyone who came out to support our all-school musical, Oh Jonah! Our students brought to life the incredible story of a prophet named Jonah , a whale, the deep blue sea, and responsibility. Most importantly, the story reminded us that God’s love all His children!

We are so proud of our students for using the talents God has blessed them with to share this message. Thank you for being such a supportive community for our school! 💙

Congratulations to 8th graders Ashton, Eloise, Libby, and Maddie for their recognition at the TLSP Honors Breakfast on May 1st. These students have not only excelled academically during their time at Ascension but also have been active participants in athletics, music and drama, and school leadership positions. We are so proud of you all! God's Blessings to you as you head off to your next chapter - high school!

Our 7th and 8th graders spent a fantastic day in Indianapolis exploring history, government, and a little sunshine!

They toured the beautiful Indiana Statehouse, learning about its rich history and architectural features. They also learned more about the three branches of the Indiana state government and how it operates.

The group also visited the Indiana State Museum, where they explored engaging exhibits that highlighted Indiana’s past, science, and culture.

To top off the day, students enjoyed some time outdoors walking along the canal - playing, laughing, and making great memories together. 

A wonderful day of learning, exploration, and fun!
