📚 June's Book of the Month: "To Meditate is to See" by Padma Mohan

In all ancient spiritual traditions, meditation was the method to solve problems and investigate profound questions through conscious perception.

What if meditation is not about escaping life—but understanding it more deeply?

In "To Meditate is to See," Padma Mohan presents the practical science of Raja Yoga and explains how meditation can help us acquire insight, wisdom, and guidance through direct experience.

❓The ancient masters used meditation to investigate profound questions. Which question do you think humanity most needs to answer today?

Psychological filters that cloud our vision and understanding: Prejudice, fear, hate, anger, greed, lust, envy, jealousy, pride, and many more keep us from knowing and seeing the facts.

When we are angry all we understand in those moments of extreme frustration are whatever our angry thoughts are telling us.

When we view things through the eyes of our greed, all we understand is what our selfish thoughts and feelings are telling us.

When we feel prejudice about something or someone, our perception is at a very low level and we are not able to see clearly.

“All things, all circumstances that occur outside ourselves on the stage of this world, are exclusively the reflection of what we carry within. With good reason then, we can solemnly declare that the ‘exterior is the reflection of the interior.’ When someone changes internally—and if that change is radical—then circumstances, life, and the external also change.” —Samael Aun Weor

We may feel affection for others, but to embody love is to move beyond affections; to integrate empathy, compassion, altruism, gratitude, and acceptance into our daily conscious mindset and actions. Observe the psychological factors that keep you from personifying these upright virtues, such as: anger, greed, envy, jealousy, ungratefulness, attachment. When we comprehend the causes and effects of these and we care, they begin to transform into loving virtues that when acted upon ripple out and positively affect the world around us. The daily practice of self-observation, mindfulness and meditation will help us transform our impurities so that we embody a loving upright, ethical, and natural state of being that heals us and others.

Those who reached full crystalline stature were called solar beings, for their lives were to be lived so lavishly that they could not deviate from their path; just as the sun cannot deviate from its course, one who has attained the level of solar hero in your path is just as certain. They share the truths of the spiritual world from their own experience; they are leaders of the universal family. - Rudolf Steiner

One who does not hate any creature, who is friendly and compassionate, free from (the notion of) "I" and "mine", even-minded in pain and pleasure, free from attachment to possessions and egotism, equipoised in happiness and distress, and ever-forgiving.

The yogi who is ever content, who has subdued the mind, whose resolve is firm, whose mind and intellect are engaged in dwelling upon Me; such a devotee is dear to Me.

The one by whom others are not agitated, and who is not agitated by others; who is free from envy, fear, and anxiety; is also dear to Me.

One who is free from desires; who is pure, wise, impartial, and free from anxiety; who has renounced (the doership in) all undertakings; and who is devoted to Me, is dear to Me.

One who neither rejoices nor grieves, neither likes nor dislikes, who has renounced both the good and the evil, and who is full of devotion, such a person is dear to Me.

The one who remains the same towards friend or foe, in honor or disgrace, in heat or cold, in pleasure or pain; who is free from attachment.

The one who is indifferent or silent in censure or praise, content with anything, unattached to a place (country, or house), equanimous, and full of devotion; that person is dear to Me.

But those devotees who have faith and sincerely try to develop the above mentioned immortal virtues, and set Me as their supreme goal; are very dear to Me. - Krishna Avatar of Vishnu/Christ, The Bhagavad Gita (12.13-20)
