Do you devote your work as Worship to God?

Yesterday Pastor Chris led us through what it means to work to the best of our ability no matter the situation and give glory to God throughout it all. We are to trust in the Lord and know no matter where we are and what we do for work there is always an ability to work for Him and honor Him. Be like Joseph and work for the Lord's glory no matter what situation of work you find yourself in.

Want to join a community dedicated to growing in your Faith? Well good news, we have a few events to look forward to for all ages!

September 5th at 5:00PM: Back to School Movie Night for K-5th grade and their families. We will enjoy a fun night full of movies, popcorn and fun games!

September 9th at 1:00PM: Women's Bible Study on Ephesians is starting! The study will meet every Wednesday at 1:00PM for 12 weeks. We hope you join them it will be full of great learning and fellowship.

September 13th at 5:30PM: Youth Group for 6th-12th grade. We will enjoy a night of fun games, and relevant teaching on Faith!

September 17th at 11:30AM: Senior Ministries will have a Luncheon with Guest Speaker Cherri Burcham from U of I about "Aging Positively." We look forward to seeing you there!

What Gospels have you heard?

Yesterday Chaplain Joe Bowman joined us and lead us through recognizing counterfeit gospels. There are a few that are common:
1. The Blessing Gospels - which tells you God wants you successful if you just believe nothing bad will happen. However that is not the truth of the life God tryly has for us We will have hard times, however God will be with us during those times to bring us strenght.
2. The More About Me Gospel - which tells us that we do not need to change our lives after we have accepted Christ. Which is not true either if you do not spend time with the Lord and change your life for God then you have not truly accepted Christ as your Lord and Savior in your life.
3. The Religious Gospel - tells us that our level of "righeousness" is measured buy what we do rather than the how we live our lives for His Kingdom and our relationship with Him. If you are doing acts to be "better" than someone else you are doing it with a self-righteous heart which Jesus condemns in Mathew 23:5,28,33 we are called to serve His Kingdom and love others not because it makes one of us better than the other in His eyes.
4. The True Gospel of Jesus Christ - This is the one we should all live by and learn from. This is the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. We are saved by Grace through faith alone. This Gospel tells us His Spirit dwells within each and every one of us producing a live characterized by God and the true Spiritual gifts, not to be saved by it but to show that we were saved by His Grace.

When we are living by the Gospel we will seek for ways to serve Him, Make decisions after asking for His wisdom, and we will live out lives that look closer to His everyday by maintaining a relationship with Him.

Have you encountered any Counterfeit Gospels?

Join us Sunday at 9:30am as Chaplain Joe Bowman joins us to tell us about just that. We are to recognize the Biblical Gospel not the one that makes us just feel good. God wants us to follow Him in His word and His truth, not the truth we just want to hear.

August 29th at 10:30AM: Journey Widows Group which is a ministry for Widows by Widows. They meet the last Saturday of every month.

How is your walk with Christ?

Yesterday Pastor Chris lead us through Mark 3 and our journey with Christ. We learned Jesus wants to wants to be with us throughout everything we do. Jesus loves you no matter where you are in life. If you are called to do something but do not feel qualified you must have faith, Jesus will qualify you for whatever path has been laid before you. First step is to seek a relationship with Christ through prayer and spending time in the Word. Next is to acknowledge Jesus has the ultimate authority. Humble yourself before Him and trust in His plan for your life. The final is to love your church family like its your personal one. Love one another and protect them.

3 Tasks:
1. Spend time with the Lord
2. Trust Jesus' authority
3. Commit to God's Family
Which one of these do you need to work on more this week? If you have not started we reccommend starting with #1.
