Marianist PULSE

Marianist PULSE Marianist PULSE is a postgraduate servant leadership and social justice initiative sponsored by the Marianists. Do you feel called to work for social justice?

PULSE is a one or two-year volunteer commitment to live in a community with other PULSE volunteers in urban Dayton, Ohio. During this time you will serve full time at a local nonprofit organization, gain leadership skills and become part of the diverse Marianist family. As a PULSE volunteer you will:
• Gather for meals and prayer in your house community
• Live simply in solidarity with those on th

e margins
• Engage in a weekly Marianist formation program
• Journey alongside a spiritual mentor
• Experience the passion of working for social justice

Is PULSE your next step? Are you willing to commit a year or two of your life to a radically different experience? Do you want to actively grow in faith? Can you find joy in living intentionally with others? PULSE volunteers receive:
• Room, board and a monthly living stipend
• Healthcare and local transportation
• Nonprofit agency experience
• Eligibility for federal student loan deferment
• End of service stipend

As we seek ways to put words to our experience (and put words on our resumes, cover letters, in interviews) we are grateful for the wisdom of Teresa Spanel, a professional employment recruiter, and Jason Eckert, Executive Director of Career Services at the University of Dayton.

Incorporated into our Formation program, Teresa and Jason provided great insight into the professional and personal skills developed during a year of service, community and formation. They left us with an exciting to do list and great confidence!
