School is officially out, and for the first time since opening our doors, we are experiencing summer at The Refuge.
The campus has come alive with the laughter, energy, and excitement of children. Bikes are being ridden, friendships are being formed, and kids who have been carrying heavy burdens are getting the chance to simply be kids for a little while.
As we step into this season, we are overwhelmed by the people and churches who are investing in the families we serve. Some are providing transportation so families can attend church together. Others are collecting food to help keep our pantry stocked during the summer months when children are home from school. Some are planning Vacation Bible Schools, movie and popcorn nights, special activities, and opportunities that our kids absolutely love.
To everyone who has given, volunteered, prayed, encouraged, or simply stopped by and seen the campus bustling with life—thank you. Your support is helping create more than a temporary place to stay. You are helping create memories, build community, and remind families that they are not walking this journey alone.
And if you’ve been praying for The Refuge staff as we navigate our very first summer season, thank you for that too. We feel those prayers every day.
What a gift it is to watch hope grow, one family and one child at a time.
