Hey all! We are searching for a worship leader/piano player. It would be a plus if they could carry a tune :)
Talk to Pastor Teri by sending a DM and she will give you the details. We mostly sing Lutheran Hymns but are excited to learn some new things from different resources.
Our worship is at 9:30 Sunday mornings.

Pastor Teri follows public theologian Nadia Bolz-Weber, (check her out). She recently wrote this intro to a blog. May we all be so bold as to have a more malleable heart, made softer, not harder, because of the teaching of Jesus. Here is what Nadia writes:

“Dear God, help me set aside everything I think I know, so that I might have a soft heart and an open mind.”

At first I was unwilling to accept that there’s any meaningful difference between what I know and what I THINK I know.

Then I was unwilling to accept that there’d be any benefit to setting aside what I know. I mean, if I “know” something, then it must be true, right?

Then I was unwilling to see any value in the continued softening of a heart that had already become softer than my personality was comfortable with.

Then I was unwilling to see any value in an open mind—because, if you remember, I already “know” the things that are true.

I had to ask myself: what do you have to lose, Nadia?

I answered myself: everything...

Summer Days
Who made the world?
Who made the swan, and the black bear?
Who made the grasshopper?
This grasshopper, I mean—
the one who has flung herself out of the grass,
the one who is eating sugar out of my hand,
who is moving her jaws back and forth instead of up and down—
who is gazing around with her enormous and complicated eyes.
Now she lifts her pale forearms and thoroughly washes her face.
Now she snaps her wings open, and floats away.
I don't know exactly what a prayer is.
I do know how to pay attention, how to fall down
into the grass, how to kneel down in the grass,
how to be idle and blessed, how to stroll through the fields,
which is what I have been doing all day.
