"...so when they had gone, an angel of the Lord appeared to Joseph in a dream. "Get up," he said, "take the child and his mother and escape to Egypt. Stay there util I tell you, for Herod is going to search for the child to kill them." So he got up, took the child and his mother during the night and left for Egypt, where he stayed until the death of Herod. And so fulfilled what the Lord had said through the prophet: "Out of Egypt I called my son." Mathew 2:13-19.

Most of us have been to an amusement park or local fair with rides. There are rides for everyone of all ages, but those rides have limits- a way to keep those who are riding safe. In the above scripture, God sent an angel to tell Joseph to take Mary and Jesus to Egypt. God guided Joseph, Mary, and Jesus to safety AND he guides us too! No matter what kind of scary, hurtful, and confusing situation we find ourselves in, God is always with us! For kids and adults alike, things can be hard, overwhelming, and scary, but God does not leave us alone, we are held in his hands, and he always guides us and puts people in our lives to help us!!

As you guessed, this week the BIG IDEA is God guides us to safety! Jesus came to set us all free from what Satan has for us so that we could be in the safety of God's presence for all time! Isn't that amazing! What comfort God brings us- he is our safe place! ❤️ Cant wait to see what next week brings!

Hey HOPE Kids and Hope Kids parents!!

Christmas is a special season as it is the time that we celebrate the birth of Jesus. Putting our faith in Jesus is not just a season. It is our daily walk with Jesus. Learning His word daily is important as it helps us to know who God is and to have a deeper relationship with Him. Jesus is a King who was born in a stable. Yet, He came for all of us. We know that when Gabriel spoke to Mary to deliver the news of Jesus, he said to not be afraid he brought news of who Jesus is. When an angel of the Lord appeared to the shepherds in the fields, the angel said to not be afraid that he brought news that would bring great joy to all people. THAT is our memory verse for this series!!! Luke 2:10. "But the angel said to them, 'do not be afraid. I bring good news that will cause great joy for all people.'" We can celebrate this season with great joy for birth of our Savior Jesus; we can be joy-filled everyday with the news that causes great joy for all people! ❤️

The angel Gabriel said, "Greetings, you who are highly favored! The Lord is with you." Mary was greatly troubled at his words and wondered what kind of greeting this might be. But the angel said to her. "Do not be afraid, Mary, you have found favor with God. You will be with child and give birth to a son, and you are to give him the name Jesus. He will be great and will be called the son of the Most High. The Lord God will give him the throne of his father David, and he will reign over the house of Jacob forever, his kingdom will never end." (Luke 1:28-33)

The angel Gabriel came to bring good news of Jesus to Mary. Mary was troubled at first, but she had nothing to fear!! Mary replied, "I am the Lord's servant. May it be as you have said."

In the series The City of Angels kids discover foundational stories of the good news about the birth of Jesus with a focus on the angels who were there to witness them!!! In the second lesson of this series we learn that Jesus calms our fears. As kiddos and adults alike, sometimes what we are called on to do things that can be overwhelming and scary. However, Jesus was God's plan for us and Jesus can calm our fears. God is in the details and works everything for our good! We can trust Jesus in everything! As Gabriel said in Luke 1:37 "For nothing is impossible for God." Catch us next week to see the next BIG IDEA as we dive into Mathew and Isaiah!
