St Barnabas Church St. Barnabas is an Episcopal Church and part of the Anglican Communion. This means we are both sacramental and mission oriented.

We seek to grow as disciples of Jesus Christ and to serve Jesus by serving others in the world guided by the values of Ancient Rites,Open Minds, and Affirming Hearts. We are a congregation, where all are encouraged to participate as each is called by God to do. This means some are called to help with worship, music, teaching, pastoral care, hospitality, greeting, ushering, intercession (prayers), altar guild duties or reading in addition to ordained ministry.

Building community power! Yesterday - a few of our team members had the honor to present the Aware Shelter's Leadership Team with a $2,396 donation from our Blue Jeans for Charity Fund.

“We are truly honored that you chose AWARE as the recipient of your Jeans Fundraiser”, said Christi O’Neil, Executive Director, Aware, Inc. “We sincerely appreciate your support and your commitment to helping survivors of domestic and sexual violence in our community. Your generosity will help us continue providing the essential services that survivors rely on every day.”

This employee/bank partnership gives employees access to wear blue jeans each Friday for a $3 contribution. At the end of each quarter, the bank matches the funds raised by employees - and is donated to a non-profit selected by the bank's employees.

Join us this Sunday for a very special day for our community.

Our partner, Phimmasone Owens, founder and Executive Director of Refugee Garden Initiatives (RGI), will be with us to share a brief reflection during worship about her journey and the work of RGI.

PBS Detroit will also be here filming as part of a larger documentary highlighting Asian American experiences in the Midwest, featuring Phimmasone's remarkable story and the work she has built through Refugee Garden Initiatives.

St Barnabas Social Fridays Group enjoyed a lunch outing today at Silver Maples in Chelsea. Good food, beautiful setting and fun socializing. We viewed Charlotte Wyche’s Juxtaposition Exhibit in the Silver Maples Gallery. Exquisite fiber art quilts in stunning colors and photography.
