Hope Church - Anglican

Hope Church - Anglican Hope is an Anglican church plant in Charleston, WV. We are focused on reaching people with the Gospel of Jesus. Hope Church is in the process of being planted.

If you're not familiar with this language, we are starting a brand new church in Charleston. We fully acknowledge that there are other churches doing great work in Charleston, but also know that there are far too many people who have lost hope and need to be introduced to the good news of Jesus that is absolutely filled with the Hope that we all desire. We are also convinced that the best way to b

e transformed into the image of Christ is through liturgical worship. This has fallen out of fashion to some degree, but has been forming Christlike believers for nearly 2000 years. This in no way means that we should throw out all of the wonderful things that the modern church has offered the body. In practice this looks like a blend of Ancient liturgy with a mix of hymns and modern worship music. We find that this blend of ancient/modern worship is so rich that we couldn't help but want to share it with the people of Charleston, WV.

We often think friendship is built on shared interests—
same hobbies, same stage of life, same vibe.

But the gospel gives us something deeper.

In Christ, friendship is formed by shared life in Him.
Because Jesus doesn’t just save individuals—He creates a people.

A people bound together not by preference,
but by grace.

And how does He relate to us?
With patience. With faithfulness. With a love that lays itself down.

So friendship becomes more than enjoyment—
it becomes formation.

Being known and still loved.
Walking in truth. Bearing burdens. Pointing each other to Jesus.

That’s the gospel.
Real friendship is built on Christ’s faithful love.

Brothers and sisters, we have gathered in His name and worshipped the King of Glory! This morning was full of joy and gratitude as the doors to our new building were opened and our God was praised again! The excitement of Pentecost, a building dedication, baptism, a visit from the Bishop, our gathering together as the people of God, and receiving from Him at His table has only helped to make clear our desire to be a place where the Gospel of Christ Jesus is celebrated and where lives are transformed by the grace and power of our Lord! What a blessed day it has been!

📍 Let's talk about the gospel in conflict. Conflict is inevitable because life is full of imperfect people, and you and I are one of them. But the gospel changes how we face it because in Christ, God didn't avoid conflict with us. He moved toward us while we were still sinners. Christ died for us. He didn't wait for us to get it together.

He made peace at the cost of his own life. And that's the foundation. Peace is not built on who's right, but on what Christ has done. Because at the cross, our hostility with God was put to death. And now in Christ, we've been reconciled. So we don't enter conflict needing to win. We enter it already. Secure in Him.

Free to confess. Free to forgive. Free to pursue peace. Not because it's easy, but because grace has already been given and here's the hope, the same grace that reconciled you to God can begin to reshape your relationships. This is the gospel. Peace isn't found in perfect people, but in a perfect savior who makes peace possible.

Brothers and sisters, 300 20th Street has been the home of Hope Church for many years! As we leave this building for our new location, we remember that the church is not merely a building, but a people. A people who have been brought into the free gift of grace and mercy through Christ. Although we acknowledge this great truth, we also acknowledge that we have been consistently in a geographical place in the city of Charleston.

There have been many joys, blessings, laughter, friendships, sorrows, hope restored, and lives changed in this place. We have worshiped the Lord our God here. This place has been a blessing to many. As we left this building yesterday to move to our new home, we did not leave the memories and experiences we had here that have shaped us in more ways than we may ever know. We also did not leave our intentionality of worshipping our God together and proclaiming His Gospel to see lives transformed in West Virginia.

As we have now moved to 1423 Lee Street East, we look forward to continuing the work of glorifying the One who is worthy of all honor and glory. May Jesus continue to be our message to the world!

It is with great joy and gratitude that we announce that beginning on May 24th, Pentecost Sunday, we will begin meeting at our new building located at 1423 Lee Street East, Charleston, WV at 9:30AM! This has previously been the home of Saint Paul’s Lutheran and Saint Paul’s Presbyterian Church. This is a wonderful blessing and gift we have received!

Brothers and sisters, we invite you to prepare for this move as it is quickly approaching and to let people know so that there is little confusion when the move is made! We will no longer be meeting weekly at our current building on 20th Street after May 17th! Please feel free to share and to rejoice alongside of us for God’s great blessings!
