Come and join us this morning! Sunday School 9:15am | Worship 10:30am
Seven minutes at the drive-through, sometimes we are ready to write a complaint letter. We live in a culture that has trained us to believe waiting is a failure. It means the system is broken. It means our time is being wasted. It means someone, somewhere, messed up. So, what do we do with the waiting seasons of life? Not the "stuck in a checkout line" kind of waiting. I'm talking about the deep, soul-level waiting.
Waiting for a job that never comes.
Waiting for a child to come home.
Waiting for healing that you've prayed about for years.
Waiting for a marriage to show signs of life again.
Nehemiah knew exactly what this felt like. He saw a problem, his heart broke, he started praying—and then God made him wait. For four months. This Sunday at Mt. Zion Community Church, we're continuing our summer series, Nehemiah: Becoming a Godly Leader, with Week 2: Waiting Well: Prayer Before Action.
Here's the truth I'm wrestling through: Waiting might not be the problem—waiting might be the point.
What if God does some of His best work in the in-between seasons? What if the waiting is preparation, not punishment? What if intimacy with God precedes influence with God? If you're in a waiting season—or you know someone who is—this message is for you. We're going to talk about why we hate waiting, what God does while we wait, and how to wait actively instead of passively. Come with your questions. Come with your weary heart. Come expecting to be reminded that the God who seems to be moving slowly is also the God who has never once been late. See you there!
