Prayer Alert
Dear Good Hope,

Because you sponsor a child in the Philippines, we’re reaching out to let you know about a serious situation and how you can help respond.

On June 7, a magnitude 7.8 offshore earthquake struck near Mindanao in the Philippines, followed by a magnitude 6.2 aftershock on June 15. The first event damaged buildings, sadly killing 65 people and injuring over 1,400. Many families have needed to abandon their homes for safety, interrupting their daily lives.

Families in poverty feel the damaging effects of disasters like this the most.

We praise God that Jasmin is not directly affected. We are also grateful to report that all Compassion children in the Philippines are accounted for. However, the earthquake brought major devastation to many homes and churches of Compassion children. The need is still great.

Through your faithful support, the local church is ready and able to be the hands and feet of Jesus, bringing hope to those affected by this crisis. Know that church leaders and Compassion center staff are walking alongside impacted communities every step of the way toward recovery.

How Is Compassion Responding?
Delivering essentials like food and safe water to children and families.
Providing temporary shelter for the displaced.
Offering comfort, prayer and trauma counseling to children and families.
How You Can Help
We know prayer is a powerful way to bring hope in desperate situations. Will you please join us in praying or giving if you feel led?

Pray for Compassion staff as they serve affected children and families.
Pray that the support and trauma counseling children receive will bring them healing and hope.
Give to help the local church respond immediately with food, water and shelter.
