Some have called the raising of Lazarus, Jesus' greatest miracle. And it just may be. In three simple words, "Lazarus, come forth!" Jesus accomplishes all that it takes to raise a man who has been dead four days. He puts breath in his lungs, restores decaying flesh, restarts brain function, renews the blood flow, and animates Lazarus’ body so that he appears at the entrance of the tomb alive and whole.

In John 11:26, Jesus asks Martha an incredibly simple, yet deeply probing question. "Do you believe this?" This question comes right after Jesus says, "I am the resurrection and the life."
This question extends to us as well. So, "Do you believe this?"

Why is it important that we have the right mindset within our trials and tribulations? Your salvation may depend on it. Do I have your attention now? In the parable of the sower and the seed, Jesus says that many people will fall away from the faith when they face the trials of life. But we must never give up on Jesus, because He does not give up on us.

Is your life exactly like you thought it would be? Has today even gone like you thought it would? If we can get so many curveballs and lemons in just one day, how much more will we get throughout life? We all know this to be true. No one has escaped it.
It was certainly true for Mary, Martha, and Lazarus in John 11. In the span of a few short days nothing went right for them and one of them ended up dead.

Ever had a big life decision to make? A decision that would chart the course of your life. Something that is a dividing line decision. You must choose between this side of the river or that side of the river and the contrast is extrememly stark?
In John 10:31-42, we find the wrap up and results of Jesus' shepherd discourse. Everyone who heard it was faced with a monumental decision. Would they accuse Jesus of "Blasphemy!" or would they believe in Him? That decision puts you on one side of the river or the other.

This Sunday is Mother's Day and it provides a terrific connection to our passage in John 10:22-30. For an infant, a mother's arms are the safest and most secure place that a baby can be. If that infant could choose he or she would want to go nowhere else. Why? Because that infant is completely content in those arms.
This Sunday in John 10:22-30, as believers in Jesus Christ, we will discover that we are completely safe and secure in the arms of Jesus and need have no fear that we will ever be cast away.

In John 10:16, Jesus speaks with such a certainty that we can rest assured in His promises and plans for us.
