Father Mychal Judge, a Roman Catholic priest and New York Fire Department chaplain, was the first known casualty of the attacks on the Twin Towers on 9/11. Today, in remembrance of Father Mychal and every victim of the September 11th attacks, we share the prayer he recited daily:
"Lord, take me where you want me to go.
Let me meet who you want me to meet.
Tell me what you want me to say,
And keep me out of your way."

As we approach Labor Day weekend, we are reminded of the Social Creed for the 21st Century, which calls us to "offer a vision of a society that shares more and consumes less, seeks compassion over suspicion and equality over domination, and finds security in joined hands rather than in massed arms.โ€

โ€œA Social Creed for the 21st Centuryโ€ lifts up Jesusโ€™ words in John 10:10, that he came so that we might have abundant life. It was adopted by the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) and the National Council of Churches of Christ in the USA in 2008. You can read more about the Social Creed here: https://hubs.ly/Q04vZDGq0

A new Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) Special Offering!

Starting this year, the World Communion Special Offering, which corresponds with World Communion Sunday in October, includes a new grant-making program.

Congregations and presbyteries can apply for a grant for their own ministries that align with the causes supported by the offering โ€” racial justice, gender justice, peacemaking, global witness, ecumenical and interfaith relations. Awards will range from $500-$5,000 from 25 percent of the total World Communion Offering receipts.

The World Communion Offering will be collected from Sept. 6 to Oct. 4 and replaces the Peace & Global Witness Offering. It will still support racial justice, gender justice, peacemaking, global witness and ecumenical and interfaith relations.

Please join us in lifting up prayers for our siblings in Nepal as search and rescue is still underway from last week's flash floods and landslides.

PDA has processed a solidarity grant for our partner Juneli Nepal and we are working with our other partner in Nepal, TOGETHER FOR NEPAL, while they assess the needs to soon put in their grant request, as well.

For more information, including how to give to support this response, see our website. We will provide updates as they are available. https://pcusa.org/disaster-assistance/active-responses/international-disaster/nepal
